How can I move rocks?

Is the only way to get them out of the way to break them?
I want rocks in my town but now where they are currently. Will they spawn some other day somewhere else if I break them?

You break them with fruit energy, and one per day will spawn up to a maximum of six.

If you break a single rock, it will respawn the next day. I can confirm this because I'm slowly becoming a sociopath by creating a rock collection:

Okay, thanks. I have an ugly rock right next to my museum that I want to get rid off.
Do they also re-spawn if I build over them (for example, by building a villagers house over them)?
