For one of my houses I'm thinking of doing a theme concentrated on how music has progressed starting from ancient times to now Modern times. I'm having difficultly choosing what other eras to use. I've looked up multiple sources to have found at least 8 different musical eras. A house can only have 6 rooms, and I'm going to use my main room as a general area and to guide players to each room since they'll have to start at the beginning and make their way to the end. So that leads me to 3 eras that I can use. I've thought about the Renaissance and Classical eras since I think they're important. Anyone else have an idea of what would be the 5 most significant musical eras to use? I also need help with what items to use to set the mood of each room as well as the clothing I could use on a mannequin so the mannequin can help with the vibe of the room. You can only obtain 4 mannequins so I'll have to figure something out for the last room that won't have a mannequin. I think I have a clear idea of what instruments can go with what era. This house theme is so limited with not a lot of resources/items in the game :/
I really like your idea; that's very creative ^^. I think each era is significant in its own way (after all its history and history to me is significant regardless what type of history you're looking at). I think you should go with your own taste or what K.K. Slider songs you like the best . What I'd do first is organize all of K.K. Slider's songs into the appropriate "era" if they classify under any or at least the ones you like the most and hope to use. Then, consider which one has the most furniture available in ACNL and perhaps base your choice on that?
Thanks! My town is a music theme town. I know I don't want to have to leave any out since every bit of history is important. I could maybe combine some eras together in a room? I have the gold house, so I have all 6 rooms and I don't want to not use a room because that would look very odd. I also have about 4 patterns I can use in some way. Maybe a picture of an instrument in that time period if the game doesn't have one or something similar. But thanks for the suggestion, it'll definitely help! Using your idea of what furniture can go with what era, I can use the kk songs to decide what eras I'll be able to use too.
The theme I'm doing for my house is based on a game, which itself has a medieval theme; so, I can understand the difficulty it is to base each room on one era. I had to mix and match; historical accuracy can only get me so far in the game . I spent a lot of time last night looking up the period each painting I wanted to use was made, and when was technology like the potbelly stove was invented. <.< Without having looked it up, I wouldn't have known that the furniture I chose wasn't invented yet; so, what would also help when it comes to furniture picking, to save yourself time and annoyance with what little selection there may be in the ACNL catalog for each era; I'd go by the appearance, what you think or are reminded of.
I had a different theme for the house that was related to my sub-theme for the house and area but not musically related and decided to change it because NL didn't provide a lot of items for the theme, so I'm hoping I'll have luck with this theme. Ooo I could definitely use art in the rooms I got very creative with two of my houses and the rooms are more symbolic. I just finished with landscaping my town for the most part. I need to decide what to do with the beach, either flowers or patterns, but I'm almost done ^-^
Wow! What a great idea and absolutely very creative!! Would love to visit your town (once you're happy with it) and check out what you've done.
To provide any suggestions or to actually be helpful, I'd be interested to know what you're currently thinking of for your rooms/eras. You mentioned Renaissance and classical, plus a general orientation room, but what else are you imagining?
Off the top of my head, I'm imagining that you could even go from primitive/early music all the way to futuristic/space music, as though you're also predicting what might evolve in the future. I'm thinking of it purely from the perspective of music and items available in the game, rather than actually being sensible and doing research like you did. It's tough, isn't it, given that some styles of music developed concurrently, or with some overlap. But here goes! Seat of the pants! Something like: primitive music (or perhaps even a Middle Eastern or Egyptian theme); courtly Japanese; Renaissance/classical; rock 'n roll; futuristic.
To give yourself more options, maybe you could try to capture all 8 styles/eras you identified by splitting it between two houses?
Anyway, would love to hear more about what you're envisioning! Good luck and keep us posted!
I was thinking of an ancient/prehistoric room with those totem poles and the ancient wall/floor for an ancient tribal room to combine those two eras. A modern era, may put like a dance floor type room. I haven't really thought of much for the Renaissance and Classical theme (besides a piano for the classical theme and some string instruments). I did think about putting gyroids in the main room and so I could use those space gyroid sounds for the futuristic part. I do like the idea of music continuing to evolve and shouldn't stop at the current era we're in now. So maybe I can do prehistoric/ancient, classic, renaissance, modern, and futuristic for my five rooms. I believe the modern era will be difficult because that's over a 100 years, like most of the eras, but it's very rich in the variety of music so I either have to stick with one event of that time or try to combine everything in one room. As for splitting theme into two houses, I don't have another space in my town to put the house. I do have an idea of where I could place another house, but I like what I have there, but I could maybe work something out. I haven't really been working on the house, trying to finish landscaping before I plan the house out and what I need.

To add on when I said I don't have anymore space for another house. Apart from all my landscaping and pwps, I have two other houses that are both musically related. One house focuses on how music with lyrics tells a story (I acknowledge instrumental music can tell a story to). The house's main theme is of love because that's the easiest theme and that's the theme of almost every modern song out there today and many many years ago. The second house revolves around the idea that music can be found in nature with birds singing and the sound of the waves of the ocean, etc. I also have specific areas and pwps related to these houses and that takes up a lot of space so I don't have any room
