I'm looking for advice on how to decorate my mayor's house while keeping with the town theme and utilizing my own interests. Insomnia is still a work in progress, but once it is complete I want to be a sleepy, autumnal forest town just as the name suggests. The mayor Bodhi (me) is a bit of a nerdy bookworm with an interest in magic and mysticism.

So far his house is taking on a very rustic feel that I quite like. At the moment, I am utilizing the common bed, modern wood wardrobe, and a totem pole alongside some firewood for decoration. I am also thinking of incorporating pieces of the mushroom set, and building a kitchen, and a study/library where Bodhi can read up on sorcery.

Do you guys have any ideas for the rest of his house and how I could possibly decorate it?

Hmm..Maybe some kind of observatory room would be cool ?

From what you described, the cabin set might be good. I'd take a look at the furniture with the rustic theme.

Personally, I try and make my houses as realistic as possible - my mayor has the basic living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, plus a chemistry lab, and an office (for mayoral stuff) - so basically, what comes to mind for me is to add a bathroom. To make it more mystical, I would go with using marble furniture - bathtub(s) customized to marble, statues, some sort of tile floor, palace wall - and add stuff like the fairy bottle, lotus lamp in blue, stained glass lamp in blue, etc. to it, to make it more pretty and interesting.
Otherwise, you could also go for an outdoor bath. Japanese outdoor baths are really popular and pretty, but I think you could also go with a fall-themed one to fit your town, using the forest or mush floor and wall.

Another room I think would be interesting would be a room for actually practicing sorcery, or maybe even some sort of altar, if you want to go a bit darker. One thing I think might be cool would be to use some of the card series items, like the card closet and card tower, that could be used as tarot cards since they don't show numbers and therefore aren't obviously playing cards.

Maybe you could also go with an observatory. While it's not really magical or mystical, I think it might look pretty and still fit in pretty well with the theme. You could probably make it fit better by using the astrology items.
