Man, if you guys only knew how much of a mess my island is right now. Let me give you a picture.
A river cut in half. Trees in pockets. Fish, dinosaur parts and bugs scattered everywhere. Paths leading to nowhere. Stones and iron sitting solemnly on the ground. Half fenced in plaza with the wrong type of fencing. Weeds everywhere.
Have to wait a day for EVERYTHING.
Gullah is looking like a hot mess right now. The resident rep totally trashed the island.
Lol mines on the same state, but mine's getting overrun by flowers, items everywhere because of catalog trade that I haven't stored yet on my second character, turnips on the whole one side of my beach, terraformed areas that I'll probably redo because I kinda lowkey hate it but at the same time, kinda like it so yes I'm confused on what's next to do so my terraforming days is delayed lol ughhhh I just want to fix my island already but I don't know where to start
if someone says their island doesnt look like a hot mess, well, they’re lying through their teeth! its sok, your island is a work in progress and thats just fine so dont stress! mine.. is in a similar state too, especially with flowers EVRYWHEREEE.. AAAH
This is me every time I've decided my entrance/area in front of RS needs fixing. I get the idea for one area, but then it throws off the way I had the whole rest of the central area of my island laid out, so I had to sit there for days trying to figure out how to make everything work, tear down all the old stuff and rebuild and it's an ugly process. It's like a domino effect on all the rest of the sections that are made to carefully fit together.
Right now I'm once again reorganizing my residential area to where each of the three villagers there - Ursala, Billy and Clay - have their own vast front yards full of things related to them. Ursala tends to a garden full of blue flowers atm but I might add more, Billy's got this patio where I hope to add a few gym-type things and Clay currently has a lot of kiddie stuff (a sandbox, ringtoss, kid pool) that I'll probably replace with pots and a bonfire and a furnace and other stuff made of... y'know, clay.
Meanwhile, my rep lives literally right behind RS and has only the star pond for an excuse of a yard

Honestly, same. I've been so frustrated with my island recently that it's been difficult to work on it at all. I just don't know where to put things, and I don't think I'm going to have room for everything I originally wanted/planned on. Watching island tour videos on YouTube certainly isn't helpful, since they're all so detailed and perfectly designed which just makes mine feel like complete trash.
Oh I had this stage in my island life. I had to demolish and rebuild so many bridges to get it back to an acceptable state. It's okay, we've all been there and you just grow to love it for the way it is! <3

Yeah, I had to change a few things when I started terraforming. My waterfall behind the museum idea I had in my last town wasn't going to work, because I decided to do a neighborhood where my museum would have been. That's the awesome thing about this game, unless it's the Resident Services, airport, or private beach location, the sky's the limit. I hope you are soon able to figure out what to do with your island. I used to have a bunch fo stuff on the ground, but yesterday I started cleaning up the trash and randomly placed items.
I hope you find the energy soon. Yeah, my river is going to be going a certain way and since I had houses in the way and had to move them, the result is a cut in half river. Since I finally moved Julian's house, I am now slowly making the river the way I want it. I was worried what I wanted to do wasn't going to work but it turns out, it's going to work better than I expected.

I habitually run in my own town (I am mindful to try not to run in other people's towns). So I trample flowers all the time. Luckily, in this game it doesn't kill them, because they just grow back. I need to work on the running thing. XD

Looks nice. I haven't gotten around to my airport entrance yet. I'm mostly focusing on moving my villagers houses to my newly constructed neighborhood area and fixing my river. I don't even know what I want to do with the airport entrance yet.

Don't get discouraged. Everything will fit. Just takes a bit of planning and maybe even maneuvering. That's what I did when I realized my museum isn't going to work in the spot I had planned for it to go.

Oh gosh, I really don't like when that happens. So I have my paths marking where the houses are going to go. I'll share some pictures on what I'm talking about.
And this is what I mean by marking where I'm going to place the villager's house.
That top left, where you see the three houses is my neighborhood. I can't wait until I get all my villager's houses there. And that white square is where my campsite is temporary being moved so I can work on the top right area of my map. A lot of work on (unofficially named) Hotmess Island. (aka Gullah Island)
