Hopper?

I was just getting mad at him for getting fleas for the fourth time but then Bones (who became my 10th villager even though I already had a campsite because he was still lingering in someone's town that I went to) told me that Hopper's planning on moving out and now I'm all sad He was one of my starting villagers and despite how I hate him spreading his catchphrase and ugly clothes all over, he has really grown on me. I wanted Alli and Lopez to go, not him..... I was wondering if I should keep trying to get him to ping and convince him to not move or see this as an opportunity to get other villagers and just let him go. Currently I've trapped him by the river so that it's easier for me to keep finding him.

Trying to get him to ping but he keeps looking off into the distance and other villagers are pinging to ask stupid questions instead ;-;

If you haven't spoken with him in a long time, you need to speak with him once before he'll actually ping you about leaving later on. (I learned this the hard way. lol)

i think you ought to keep him since you have other villagers you would rather leave. you can always move him out later when you really get tired of him ~

I spoke to him while he still had the flea on him then I decided to ignore his flea and I went to talk to Bones and found out that he actually wants to move so I caught the flea for him then trapped him >-<

will remember that for the future though

I just did that and it worked!!! Thank you so much! I feel so relieved now.

Ah, good. That's always the solution when I need someone to ping. When I start the day, I walk around to all my animals and give them a chance to ping before I talk to them. If one of the first ones pings me with something non-mover related, I save and quit and then reenter the game and walk in front of the rest to see if anyone is pinging to move (after noting which ones are in their homes, because if they were inside the first time, they weren't the mover).
