When I first heard about the update for New Leaf, I was really excited for it.
But... I'm worried they're going to bring in the stuff I don't like from HHD, like some of the redesigned items (the flat-screen TV and the statue fountain in particular, as well as the weird shades they've used for brown doors), the rug system and getting rid of PWPs in favour of just placing items outside (which would make it incredibly hard to trade items) as I would feel it'd dilute the gameplay of AC:NL by completely overhauling it to the point where I wouldn't like it.
However, amiibo compatibility and a ton of new furniture (and possibly villagers) is still very exciting. I really want this update to be like Doubutsu No Mori e+, tweaking and adding some new features but keeping the basic mechanics of the game intact.
(Villagers moving in weird places is a problem but it's always been something I've worked around. I'm also not a huge fan of paths because they never sit right with me, and their supposed stopping of grass wear was debunked long ago in NL, so having better paths isn't an issue. It's a small rural village, not a huge metropolis. But that's just my feelings there.)
(Also, live KK bootlegs would be a neat returning feature too, guys)
So I'm turning this over to you. What do you want added in the update?

While I don't care much about the update, I hope they at least add a feature where you can choose where villagers live, as well as an easier way to place PWP's besides having to walk around and having Isabelle give you a ten page speech on why you can't place an PWP in an area if you stand in the wrong place.
What I hope they DON'T do is patch bugs. Okay maybe some bugs are worth fixing such as lessing the chance of random game corruption but things like going out of bounds are really harmless to gameplay and are fun to do with friends, and are overall not really worth fixing.
I can understand if they patched duping, however I know some people are going to be really pissed if that happens.

I honestly doubt they're going to change very much if anything at all of the already existing game. Imo there's very little chance PWPs will change (although maybe more will be added..?) and an even smaller chance they'll change how villager move-ins work.
I think new items will be added (from HHD, probably), along with the amiibo card functionality. Hopefully some new villagers, too. And maybe the design features of HHD? I hope so

The game's 4 years old and not nearly as popular as it used to be, so I can't imagine them revolutionizing it at this point. Since there's still a fairly dedicated fanbase, seems like Nintendo's just trying to milk a little more money out of the game before the next AC comes out and this one becomes obsolete.

Although I hope I'm wrong! I'd love if they did change big things like villager move-ins or added cool new features that we haven't seen before

Either way, I'm excited for the update ^^

I'm excited but waiting for more information from Nintendo.
I do like the small rugs/curtains that they added in HHD. Right now I have some dark wood floor that could use a small rug in a few of my houses. The curtains is something I wanted along time ago. When it's 11pm it's still bright in some of the rooms.

Some of the Nintendo store items and pieces of furniture from the HHD would be nice. I would love to have the wooden swing in my backyard. The flat screen TV would work better for me if it went on the wall. Right now it takes up a spot and doesn't look right when you put a picture on the table. It blocks the TV.

I'm excited about the new furniture. It'll be easier to make rooms through HHD and recreate them in NL.
I'm just worried they're going to make a new PWP campsite for amiibo.
...I don't have the room lol
But then again, I don't think I'm going to be using the option.

Hold up there's a new a leaf update?!?!?!? Do you have to like buy another game card or is like a system update where you don't need to buy a new game card???? (don't rly feel like buying another gamecard)

UHMM the rugs are great, I hope they make the houses more like what you can do in HHd

I'm not a fan of them due to getting rid of the carpets the rugs came from in order for them to exist, and layering the carpet and floors together looking... wrong.

Nintendo announced an update to add amiibo functionality to New Leaf! Its supposed to happen in fall, and I'm sure it'll be an update that everyone who owns the game can download.

Yes! Right from the title screen, you have an option to update the game. :)

I honestly think this update is going to end up being small and just a way for nintendo to push amiibos and cards on us. I'm not expecting big changes. The only thing I care about is new furniture anyways.

The update is coming in November (its confirmed) and thats 2 months away. They announced it when they had 3 more months and they had something to show, so they must have been working on it beforehand too. So maybe they've been working on it all 2016? I could see them doing this. And lets not forget what else comes out in November. If it comes out in November along with Sun/Moon, they must be setting our expectation high if its the same month of a new pokemon game.

Some things I hope they'll add in the new update

-Ability to place *some* furniture items outside (The ones intended to be in a yard like the sprinkler and bird bed, not items like the couches or beds.

-Patterns on the ground make a more clickety sound when walked on instead of the grass sound

-More pattern space. I actually could see them doing this? Adding an extra 10 spaces or so if you love designing

-Ability to plant things and do PWPs on the beach! Totally could see this happen if not in the update then in a new game.

-New shop/updated Nooks homes. If you played Amiibo Festival and noticed those plots of land with the red leaf, the plots were owned my the HHD company, so maybe this will give the option to pick where villagers live in NL? Using these plots of land.

-More island tours. Amiibo festival had many ways to play and a lot of the ways to were based off the island. So could they be hinting at new tours for the update? I doubt it but we dont know anything.

Oh no, not November. :( I expected it earlier. Where was it confirmed?

Pretty sure it's just going to be amiibo support and some new items from HHD. Most likely not the ceiling items. Plus, those two Splatoon squirrels.

My only fear is the very likely possibility of including a new bug (glitch) from updating a 3 year old game. It could mess things up if it's really game breaking.

I'm kinda hoping that maybe we get a couple extra villager slots. Not too many or else the towns would get crowded, but I have soooo many dreamies...

More villagers, more pwp's, more villager types. I'm excited to see that they do with the new game.

I'm very excited about what this update will bring. I'm hoping there'll be proper patching of the most important glitches (ones that corrupt the game file) first and foremost. Losing a town I've had for three years now would probably be enough to make me rage quit the series entirely.. and I've never rage quit anything.

For the villagers and cycling I'm not fussed, the animals have always been one of the least appealing aspects of AC for me (yeah yeah I know it's called "Animal Crossing" for a reason.. I said *least* appealing - I love AC; I just happen to love just about everything else about the game more than I do the ridiculously limited amount of dialogue possible with the hundreds of villagers).

I'd like to have more houses possible in each town though. Maybe as a choice the Mayor makes? So I could want a "metropolis" and that allows a max of 20 villagers, for example. Or "thriving town" for max of 15; "bustling village" for max of 12, "cozy country town" for max of 10 (for those with no need/room for any more villagers). I would LOVE to see a change like this - imagine the variety of towns we could see when dreaming?? It's always frustrated me that the arbitrary limit on villagers puts such a big limit on how different towns can really be. Sure, the landscaping and colour scheme can be creative, and PWPs can change things up, to. But there's always the same amount of land taken up by villager houses (unless the player is new or someone just moved out). Sure, some players have just the Mayor character and others have up to four, but that doesn't add much variety. So the "fixed features" (buildings) lead to a feeling of same old, same old. Unless that's just me..

I'm hoping the Island stuff will be updated. More games, more to do.. More ways to steer clear of trolls/weirdos/beggars/creepers would be good, though no idea how this could be implemented appropriately.

More furniture would be cool, especially with the HHD way of putting items out and moving them around. I don't dare hope for being able to put outdoor furniture actually outdoors.. I've wanted to put that ****ing elephant slide outside since I first saw it within the first hour of playing WW (my first AC game), when I saw it in a villagers house and began scheming to get one set up in my "backyard". Little did I know about the quirks of AC then. HHD has taken some of that saltiness away, but not all. I want that ****ing slide outside of MY house, please and thank you. In order to try and avoid adding to my unhappiness on this score, I'm going to keep trying *not* to get my hopes up here.

Hmm. Only other things I can think of that would make a big differences to me are : to be able to change the town name, and character names. Oh I would love both of those things so much..

Oh, and an overhauled "chat" system would be amazing ... Trying to type on that ****ing keyboard... Grrrrr.
