So, I have always been homeschooled so I definitely go for that.

One thing I have to argue with, which may be different for some unfortunate people, is that being homeschooled DOES NOT affect your social friends. I have so many friends and I am actually glad that I don't go to public school because of the environment it has... just kinda uninviting. Plus I'm hardly held to any schedule, except I have 3 online classes, so I can be flexible. But, I'm not saying that public school is bad, just that I and more people enjoy being home. :)

Where did people get the idea that doing online school/homeschool makes you anti-social? If you're going to public school and you dislike your peers, you're still going to avoid them and sit in the back of the classroom skulking (unfortunately speaking from personal experience). I think when people hear "homeschool", they hear "super-religious parents sheltering their kid" which is just not true, that's a stereotype. There are reputable homeschool programs, mostly online. Many of them do "field trips" and meetups so that you still get the chance to meet people. And like I said before, school isn't the only way people make friends.

(i'm confused .. is public school what they call state schools in america?)
I think home-schooling doesn't prepare you for life. Even if you are still sociable and have friends, you probably aren't used to having to get up and go out and socialise with people you don't want to. Sure, there's been times when I've been bullied and hated school, but I'm better equipped to deal with life and the working world because of it.

As I haven't been homeschooled:

Public school was okay. There were a lot of things I didn't like about it, though. The main thing being the learning pace. From 3rd grade to 8th grade, I was in all honours classes, which were really fun, and school was fun, and I have no problem with that. Because yeah, younger kids should learn to be in a busier environment when they can, I think (so long as it's not crazy stressful).

High school was where I had the problems. I was still in mostly honours my first two years, but if you get a bad teacher, it's much harder to recover, especially because there's no time for anything with homework and clubs, too. I had straight C's in honours chemistry because nothing about that class clicked with me, and I wasn't having fun in math, either. So I dropped science all together my third year and went to a lower math, and suddenly math was too easy. But there was no in between. Last year, science was too easy, too, but I wanted to take astronomy and there wasn't an "honours" option for that. It was fun, but it could have been more challenging.

I just really wish I could have worked at my own pace more. Especially in Japanese (which is my major now) because years 1-3 I had over a 100%, and then last year, which was AP, I still kept a high A. My teacher was amazing, and did give me extra things to do and learn, but I just wonder how much more I'd know if it were a more homeschooling type of setup, I guess.

I think public schools or better, yes you have to wake up early but its better to learn in groups. If you don't get something, someone else in your class has so they can teach others. Plus, you should learn to socialise with others, even people you don't really like because when it comes to when your old enough for a job, how will you know how to get along with coworkers when you never had the experience in school? School is much better with friends and even though you can't go at your own pace, at least you'll cover all the subjects you have to. Public schools are planned to fit all learning in that a child needs. I couldn't imagine actually learning anything at home when you got the TV, Phone, Tablets, etc. But that's just my opinion :)

I really wish I had gone to public school, because like many have said, homeschooling shelter you from the outside world... So when you're done with school and get a job, it can be a bit of a shock. I'm still in homeschooling, but I've recently gotten a job (in fact I'm posting this from my lunch break haha) and I'm definitely having to get used to dealing with people.

homeschooling. you learn at your own pace. cyber schooling sucks.

i feel so, so bad for the ones who said public schooling is better.

Well I've been to private, public, and online and I'd have to say my preference is online. I would only suggest online if you have the motivation to push yourself to do school everyday though, because there isn't a teacher there to make sure you aren't doing something besides studying so it's a little difficult sometimes.

I've been public schooled my entire life I was in the 12-year school. Right now, home school is better. There's no bullies, no strict teachers, no bad lunches, and no going out every day. That, and home-schooled kids do better than public-schooled kids.

College would be better public schooled than online schooled however.

from my experience with homeschooling for a short time due to my health, it was boring. I had to for like 3-4 months my junior year or something, don't really remember anymore. Those days were such a blur. I joined a bunch of forums and made more friends online because of boredom and feeling alone cause all my friends basically ditched or didn't care to hang with me or visit. Getting back into public school after not being in was tough for like the first week though, like I had to adjust I guess. I actually liked public school especially senior year but the only thing I disliked was waking up in the morning lol.
Oh and academics aren't that much different except you get a lot more help if you don't understand something. One on one with your teacher helped me soooo much. Best advantage to homeschooling tbh. I ended up with straight a's those few months.

Public school is annoying as hell, I will admit. I never was homeschooled but I certainly didn't take public school for granted.
If there's one thing I learned from public school, it's that people can be awful and you should never listen to anything they say. People are just out to bring you down and you need to believe in yourself. Especially in high school.

The academics weren't great in public school and I wish I could have been homeschooled for the better learning environment, but other than that I'm glad I was in public school. It teaches character and how to socialize without trying.
I go to a public college and it's much better than any of the public schooling I had before. People are just nicer. But there are still some jerks that ruin it for everyone.

i like both
but i like homeschooling better because sleep
online schooling is even better
