I didn't click your link because I didn't feel like it but I assume you're talking about Will.I.Am. from last night? I saw it live and I can't express how fake it was. Anderson Cooper was looking at nothing. :p They had all cameras around Will and just put him over the other scene

edit: oh, I see they did it more than one time last night
 
Well it definitely wasn't a hologram in the sense that we know it, but I do believe it was the first time in television history where that kind of technology was actually used, though. Very, very cool stuff.

But this was absolutely no advance in holograms at all, lol. It was just a bunch of cameras... not some revolutionary technology.
