once a villager is in boxes is there any way you can prolong their stay?
e.g. i need to hold a villager thats moving out for someone, but they wont be available to talk to the villager until the day the they are supposed to move

You can just time travel to earlier that day. Preferably a minute after the time they wake up but no less than that :)

Say the villagers was moving today, the 30th and you would leave it a day because the person couldn't pick them up. So now it's the 31st and the first time you load your mayor change the date back to the 30th and the villager will still be in boxes. It its kinda weird and it doesn't follow acnl logic but trust me it works lol

I personally alter the ds time not the time with Isabelle. I always right down (in the notes part on the ds) when I can play next. For example: I had Marshal in boxes on October 22nd, I played until 13:22. So i put a note saying play from October 22nd 13:35 (I always put at least 10 mins ahead).

I could leave the game a week, come back, set the ds to that date and time and Marshal will still be in boxes.

I play like that so I don't lose anyone if I don't get time to play. That's just my way of doing it but there are other ways.
Good luck, hope all goes well

I've held villagers for quite a while before, it's easier altering the in game time as it doesn't affect your other games so I always remember the date they were in boxes and just load up on that day. Providing you haven't loaded up since on a different date, they will still be in boxes.
