So, my town has no paths at the moment. I'm thinking that it would be nice to put some down, but holding the patterns would be a bit of a pain.

Suppose that I create a new character and designate them the town cobbler. Have any of you done something to the same effect? Would you recommend it?

In most of my towns, one or two players will hold QRs for paths, stones, plot blocks, stuff to decorate the town, grass, ect... I usually have my main hold the grass pattern since I'll often erase it for balloon gifts or to put somethin down for another character. The others will hold part if a path system or the QR to cover the plaza and train station bricks, somethin I don't need as commonly.

I recommend it since it opens up your mains designs, and allows you to decorate with QRs in your house and theirs if they don't hold all the path. You can also hold more clothes design amongst your person for easy switching of styles.

In my current town, I only use a single stepping stone path so I don't need a second character to hold the patterns. However, I'm planning on starting a second town that will use a full path and I do intend to create a second character to hold all of those patterns. That will free up my main character to keep patterns for wallpapers, a flag, signs, dresses, or whatever else I need.

i am dumb, why have i not thought of this? I literally just delete my patterns in case i need new ones, and just bookmark my previous ones if i ever need them again, i guess this method would be more efficient

I definitely do this. I have my alts hold the paths so my mayor can hold her dress patterns. I wish I could do what Lady Destani does and have a single stepping stone path but I haven't been able to actually make one that looks nice :( I'm no artist.

But yeah. It's actually a pretty common practice among the community.

My alts are always my storage and path holders.
It is super convenient to have, and you can still make their houses and such nice from it.

Ha funny, my main is always my path holder. Seems like most people put it on their alt. Usually my main/mayor holds the paths because I play her most and I like to do errands while planning out the area. I also end up deleting alts until my town is close to completion. I think I'm currently using up 5 slots for path patterns atm. The rest is for her dress, house patterns, and extras of my path should I need to edit them. My alts mainly hold clothes or patterns for their interior because I like to have themed houses for my alts.

I need 18 slots for my path, and I split it evenly between two characters. I gave my main the parts that are more likely to get kicked away, like edges and corners, and gave my second character pieces I don't expect to need as much, like inner corners and similar pieces. Each keeps one slot open for designs. It'll be a hassle making stuff and saving it all, but I don't like switching villagers every time the fishing tourney cuts off some of my corners.

If I need more paths I would usually create an alternate account to hold the paths and set them out :D

Right now, I've just got the one character, but I'm about to build a school in my town and that mule character will hold all of the path QR codes so my mayor can have cute clothes to wear! :)
