I have no trees, so I though this was easy they would just be hiding behind their houses, I found 2/3 villagers where could they hiding if there's no trees!

I have tons of trees, 10 villager homes and 2 character homes, and I've never lost a game. Did you check the beach? Once or twice I've found someone hiding behind the banana trees I have down there.

If you press up on the arrow-pad thing in the right spot, it'll give you a better view of the things behind buildings

^ Yup. I had the hardest time finding a villager once and just happened to be next to the cliff and there they were on the beach.
I didn't expect it, but I suppose there's no reason they can't hide there.

Yes. As I said above, they'll hide behind banana and coconut trees down there.
