I’ve been playing ACNH on my brothers switch on MY profile connected to MY ninentdo account. My brother finally got his ACNH game and even when he’s on HIS profile on HIS game cartridge he’s on MY island with his own tent and character. I’m gonna start crying ****. I thought the data was linked to the cartridge??? I’m still waiting for my own switch to come in, are you telling me I wasted HOURS of my time. I can’t fix this I might give up on this game

Nintendo that it is only one file for Switch, not user. They said they'll eventually come out with a way to transfer, but for now, I don't know if you can

Yes, I am sorry This is a bad situation, but perhaps your brother can hold onto some of your things at his island while you create your character on your Switch. I'm sorry about the circumstances, I would be devastated

Yep sorry, one island per console unfortunately - you'll need to start again when your switch comes as Nintendo still haven't released or announced any info about their data transfer tool for these circumstances. Sorry!

Yeah this was one of the big drawbacks to the game that was announced way before it came out. Pretty much, he will have to restart the save on his switch if he wants to be resident rep., and you will have to restart the game on your switch.

Cartridge-bound save data was a New Leaf thing, not a New Horizions thing

Did you enjoy the time you spent building up your island? If so it wasn't a waste of time. Just because something comes to an end doesn't mean it wasn't worth the ride.

Once your new Switch arrives you can build a better island than the one you already have. You're going to go into it with knowledge and likely a vision that you lacked the first time around. Starting over can be something exciting.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I would feel so frustrated in this situation I'd probably cry too knowing that time I could've spent doing other things went toward working on an island I'd have to delete But sadly yes, they announced this a while ago and it immediately upset me--the save data is on the device itself and you have to have another cartridge and another console to have another island. I don't think you should give up on the game, though!
