Hello! I was trying to open New Leaf, and an error message popped up in game that said it needed to be updated. I have updated to Welcome Amiibo already. Also, my 3ds is also up to date. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Really the only problem I could think of is the system being out of date, but since you already updated it, I'm not sure what it could be. Could be an error with the cartridge but it's unlikely an update error would pop up. Did you update to welcome amiibo recently or a while ago?

I did factory reset my 3ds, so it was recently

Is the town you're playing in hacked?

I see. Unfortunately this was a problem going around when the welcome amiibo update came out. Some hacked towns were having issues because the game cannot recognize certain items. I'm sorry to say that Nintendo never gave a way to fix this except for deleting your save data and restarting your game.

I mean, I didn't put anything out of the ordinary. I just placed trees and clovers and rocks and clothes! Wait...could it have been the rocks that caused it? I tried to make a fairy circle out of it

I'm really not sure. Nintendo claimed that it was specifcially "items you cannot usually obtain", but some people said they got the error without even hacking their town in the first place. I've heard that it can also occur if you trade an item with someone and recieve a hacked item.

Ok...so what do I do to start it back up again? I have already deleted the save file, and I also completely factory reseted my 3ds...

So currently when you start up the game, it should give you the promt to start a new town, but it gives you an update error, correct?
