Help

I don't think you can really force yourself to be in the mood- it'll always feel like a chore then.

Being in love with your town/villagers and having goals you want to accomplish while playing are really important to stay interested in and excited about ACNL, though.

If you're having issues feeling passionate or excited about your town, maybe try restarting or try getting more of your dream villagers? It took me about 7-9 different towns, but I have finally found one that I'm in love with and am excited to play every day. And part of that is that I finally have a town full of dream villagers, but it's also just the map/town itself.

Don't mean to go off topic but

Haha. Sorry about that- I'm a fan of minimalism and tiny text. The default text looks massive to me since I haven't used text this size in awhile.

Right now I motivate myself with a simple, "I wonder what's available on the island today...?" and once I'm actually in the game I'll go talk to my villagers, track down fossils, and water my flowers. Once I'm on the island I'll catch a few bugs/sharks because they're just hanging around, and once I get bored of that I save and quit. If you're feeling disinterested in playing it even while you're playing it you're probably due for a break.

Maybe you're just burned out on it. Try taking a break from the game. If you're still not interested try restarting. A fresh start has me interested in the game again, and I actually like my town this time too.

AC has become a game that is very soothing for me when I get stressed out, so I never really have to be in a certain mood. I guess the newness wears off for some people, but I never get tired of talking to my villagers or doing favors to make them happy. A while back though, school simply became too overwhelming and I had no time to play it, but I've picked it back up and it's become a daily thing.

I'm mostly motivated by getting my dream villagers, decorating my home, and cleaning up my town. It's fun to hoard up on bush starts so that you can just go nuts landscaping. It's also a very therapeutic game, so I usually play it whenever I'm stressed.

I'm motivated by the fact that I'm attached to both my town and the tiny animal people living in it. I find it relaxing and enjoyable to just run around and explore and talk to them and see what's going on each day. The times where I feel like I -have- to motivate myself, I just don't play that day or make sure no one is moving and call it quits. It's difficult to make yourself want to do something.

If you have goals that you want to accomplish on NL, then it makes the game a whole lot less boring! Pick out some Dreamies or start a PWP that will keep you occupied until you pay it off. :)

If you try to make yourself interested in playing it, you'll only become less interested in the game. Try taking a break if you can't find any reason to want to play right now.

This is pretty much exactly how I've been keeping myself interested in the game. o:

I set huge lofty goals for myself. 10 specific villagers to fit my town's theme, 1 billion bells, complete catalog, a town where every space is full of flowers, etc. The more I have to work on, the more interesting the game is to me.
