I'm really stuck because I need to make a new character so i can make more patterns but i dont fele like i have space for their house in my town...?

Now my town is a real mess, it's hideous and looks SO unfinished and i dont know what to do with it haha. all the pwps were pretty much placed down to stop villagers moving into those spots so dont mind them. Also i have 9/10 of my dreamies moved in so their houses are pretty much set now. I'd ideally like all the houses excluding the mayor's house (player houses, villagers houses, etc) kept in the same sort of areas to make it neater but I just cant find a place for my next villager's home!

also i really dont wanna use QR codes i'm making all my patterns myself which is why they're really crap and unfinished haha but if you have any recommendations for paths i'd LOVE to see them and i wont use those exact paths but i'll use them for inspiration i guess.

i'd really appreciate any feedback on my town really !! tbh I might even pay a small amount of tbt for tips and advice on this if i find it really helpful :)
Here's my dream code: 7300 5671 9740

I actually like your town a lot as it is.
I like your patterns, they're not bad at all. I like that they're split up by the shamrocks, and not connected all the time, it gives it an 'ancient' feel (aided by some of your pwp's), like some of the stone paths have cracked or shattered and otherwise eroded away. Although when you have paths that are not like that as well, and they're just plain paths with no missing tiles, it makes me think maybe it's a mistake? If you decide to make all your paths more basic (2 tiles wide with no missing tiles) I suggest you use patterns that would give the path a border that fits together, otherwise the patterns sort of stand out in a weird way. This tile system requires at least 8 patterns unfortunately (left, right, top, bottom, and 4 corners, and even more if you want it to look really good (another 4 for inside corners, and possibly more for path variations). I did this, and it was a pain, I have 2 alt. characters dedicated to paths. I think your paths would be enhanced if you had trees, bushes, bamboo, or flowers framing them.
If the town were mine, I'd demolish one of the water fountains and put a house on the upper left corner of that island section (to the right of pluto's house). But I know that might be a pain, so maybe instead you could put it in the empty space north east of your town hall. One thing I don't like is that you do have quite a few empty spaces, like the one I just mentioned. You could be doing stuff with these areas, even if it's just gardens. Also, just some basic advice, I know that the shamrock looking weeds are nice looking, but they count against your town score, you can use lucky clovers instead (although they're much rarer).
Another thing I think you need is maybe more flowers and trees. You don't seem to have an awful lot of either.
Over all, I really like the feel of your town.

If you want to see an example of the type of paths I was talking about (with borders) you can visit my dream town: 5500-5698-0883
My town isn't finished either, and there are tiles standing in for where foliage and pwp's will go, but my paths are finished.

hey, sorry for the late reply here. thanks for the tips, i really appreciate them! i checked out your town too. it feels so much bigger than mine!

I've worked a lot more on the city-ish part of my town (with the town hall and ribbot..) but im thinking about getting rid of the river patterns because it annoys me that villagers just casually step on them and dont play along with them being water haha. i like how the city area looks although it's so drab and sad looking but i guess that's how it will look.

I made a new character and im pretty pleased with where her house is so im trying to come up with an 8-tile path for her, but at the moment im struggling to think up colours that would match the brown planks and the grey stones i use without clashing. im insanely unimaginative! i plan on building gardens for all or at least most of the villagers which i've done a lot more work to recently.

Anyways, thanks again for the advice, im really working on it (and ill be tearing down the pwps after i get my last villager moved in successfully) and i've updated my dream address so you can check the progress if you want. bear in mind i have no shame and have crap and random patterns just thrown everywhere atm.

your town is super cute!!

some things i noticed:
in the lower part of your town you have a lot of bamboo, if i were you i'd put in a few more trees to not make it all bamboo.

outside the character worm's house i think you could remove the gray path and instead only hace the brown one!! idk but the colours dont really go well together!! if you really want gray then maybe you should use a lighter gray or even a lighter brown colour? :o

your little river path outside the town hall is cute but it takes up a lot of space! if i were you i'd either make it more straigt or remove it

other than that i really think your town is cute!! also i absolutely LOVE the area around mint's house with the bushes and crops it's like so cute ;_;

Your town did improve from last time.
You dealt with the empty space I was talking about, and your town felt more full over all.
BTW, my town probably seems bigger because my river is one of the least invasive river types in the game, leaving me with a lot of land. None the less, I think your town has a better feel to it, lol. Mine's really rigid in comparison, and less themed. Like I said, yours has a more 'ancient' or 'woodsy' feel to it.

P.S. thanks for the tbt bells, that's not why I helped though, lol. I just like seeing towns.

lencurryboy: Thanks very much for checking it out! Originally the lower part was meant to be all ruined and overgrown and mysterious so i used a lot of bamboo but after a bit of TTing... welll.... I can't seem to get control back! I'm thinking about completely scrapping the bamboo forest idea there because it's such a pain haha. It's overwhelming i agree.
blagh im so terrible with colours, i'll have to see what i can do with that.
I'm planning to remove the river altogether (too many design spaces taken up -.-) but im still not very sure what to replace it with (to make the area look less boring i mean)
and haha yeah i'm pretty proud of that actually, i built the bamboo forest originally for chester but it looked better spread behind mint's home aswell. i think i might actually just cut it back to just around chester only though.

Paperbag: Haha well any themes going on in mine are completely unintentional! I'm very limited for what i can draw and stuff so i just went with grey stones haha. I kinda hate my town layout sometimes because of the bit at the top left and underneath pluto's house since those bits are just too small to have anything in without blocking the way... but i guess you always start to hate your town map after a while anyway.

And yeah I know, I just really appreciated how much you put into your advice :D
