Help with catching the spider

So I want to catch a spider to donate to the museum in my New Leaf town. I know that it's found in trees but the only trees in my town are fruit trees and I don't know if I need any other types of trees in my town for it to spawn there or whether it will spawn on fruit trees. If you could give me tips on how to catch it, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

It should be possible to find spiders in fruit trees as I've encountered one a few days ago when I was harvesting Peaches from my town.

I have found spiders on evergreens, fruit trees and regular trees ... What I love about ACNL is that it is so amazingly simple to catch them ... Just walk up to the tree and blam it with your net ... You will hear that satisfying little smack-pop and there ya go! ... If you hit all the trees and no spider is caught, just go in and out of any building and it resets the bug count ... Should be easy, Hun

Well after whacking some trees with a net, I finally caught a spider. Thanks for the tips everyone.
