Help with 11th villager slot (aka void?)

Let's say someone accidentally voided a villager from their town. My purpose here is to save that villager from the void and have them move to my town. I go visit their town, and then return to mine. I have 9 villagers currently residing in my town. Is there a way that I can somehow get that villager to move into my town?

My theory is the villager that got voided is now in line to move into my town next. I just do not know if they can do that with 9 villagers currently in town. Do I need to get another to move out before I can have that villager move in? Or is that not possible because the void will be filled with whoever moves out?

I was thinking I could visit someone else with 9 villagers in their town, get another to move out so I have 8 villagers, and then go back and visit the person who had the 9 villagers so that the one I was trying to get is next to move into my town which now should be in the moving-in phase since villagers cannot leave when there are only 8.

Sorry if that was too hard to follow, I am trying to give you all the information I can and what I think might work so you all can maybe come to a better answer. Currently I am working on getting another villager out, then when someone announces they are moving I will need to figure out what to do, haha.

Are you asking if you have to have 8 or less villagers to pick one up from the void? Because you don't, I have gotten 2 from a friend when I had 9 villagers already.

Oh, so you are saying that the villager I picked up from the void will move in as my 10th villager soon? Or that I need to get someone to move out for them to place their house?

If you have 9 or less villagers, it is completely possible for a villager from the void to move into your town, no one needs to move out. I think there's not always a 100% chance of them moving into your town either, though.
