So these are the games I currently have!

-mario kart
-splatoon 2
-mario odyssey
-super smash bros ultimate

I've got a gift card I can use so I'm wondering what game I should buy, I'd also like it to be multiplayer as I have a big family :)

I'd say if you want to play it as a multiplayer with family, go for Mario party!

Best multiplayer title for the switch now is Overcooked 2, a lot of fun (and chaos).
I can also recommend Celeste, Sonic Mania, Zelda for single player games.

I would also say Super Mario Party since it's like the best game you can play with others.

Another game which also has multiplayer is ARMS. I didn't played the game yet but it looks
like fun.

Oh yeah overcooked 2 is also a great game to play with family/friends!
Also I'd say stardew valley (which I believe has a multiplayer) and arms and 1-2 switch.

Thank you all for your suggestions :') right now it seems like I'd be going for mario party.

If it was me, I'd wait for the January direct and see if anything else good is coming in the first quarter. But I'm also much tighter with game spending so :p

splatoon 2 or smush...

mario kart 8 is meh and smo i didn't really like.

agree with overcooked 2 though it's fun, or yeah that switch mario party.

UNRELATED, BUT

I know splatoon 2 is multiplayer online but can you play with 2 controllers together online? I never really knew or not it's what is stopping me from subscribing to their online features.

Had to read your posts a few times, but yes online multiplayer for that game most likely cost like any other game, unless you mean local? I dunno if you mean local offline mode and I don't know if S2 supports that or no.

There is no two players together on the same console online, you need to have another switch and another splatoon 2, to able to play together online and offline to do local play.
But single player online isn't so bad on splatoon 2

Anyways I would go with Mario Party too

I would say Smash Bros. or Mario Kart 8, because apparently Mario Party only has four maps and isn't as fleshed out, but then again I don't have the game. Smash and Mario Kart are excellent for both Single and Multiplayer, in my opinion. In fact, you could play 8 players for Smash Bros. so your whole family can play!
