Help, please-Can't find items?

When I go to the auction, there aren't any items up for me to bid on. And when I ask Lloyd the Gyroid if I can put anything up for auction, I'm denied. Why is this? My wi-fi is turned on on my Wii and in ACCF too. What gives?
