HELP ME!!!

Ok, so I want to start cycling in my Animal crossing town but I only have 1 3DS. I already have save data for my main town on it. If I buy another cartridge of Animal crossing, will it erase the data of my main town or start again?

The game saves the data on itself so I find it easy to switch between cartridges. Don't worry the info from your game will be safe on it's own unique cartridge. Just be sure to keep the games in the case to avoid scratching the data prongs. I have to make sure it's safe from my chinchilla, for some reason he likes to chew on the cartridges. LOL
