Help me figure out my villager dilemma

hey everyone!!

so... after making a full ten villager dreamy list and sticking to it, i've found that i haven't connected to a few of my villagers and there are some villagers that i really want.

since i'm super indecisive, i decided i'd put a poll up to help me decide on everything!

PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING!!
so currently, I have four smugs (Raymond, Marshal, Julian, and Colton in order of most to least attached i am to them), and one of each of the other personalities other than normal (bella is my peppy, dobie is my cranky, fuchsia is my uchi, rod is my jock, sherb is my lazy, and tasha is my snooty).

i've found that four smugs is a bit too much, and i can't seem to connect with colton. i really like him, but we just aren't connecting.
so, please vote for which normal i should choose to replace him whenever he decides to move out!

as for the rest of the poll options:
i honestly haven't been connecting with rod as much as i'd like, and i keep seeing dom and wanting him!! so, should i keep rod and just wait it out to see if i end up connecting more, or should i get dom instead?

finally:
this one's kind of a long shot, but i haven't been connecting with julian as much as i have with my other smug babies, and what with the adorable super hero art on reddit, i find myself really liking stitches. he just seems so sweet!! should i switch julian out for stitches?

of course, i'm going to attempt to get all of the pictures of those who i'm considering moving out, and i'm not planning on TTing anymore (unless i have to keep a plot open or something, but i doubt i'll need to), so this'll be a long term goal.

Fellow Bella lover. I shall give you my most sincere suggestion.

Goldie. Forever and always. If there is an option to sell your soul for a villager? Goldie.

As for Rod, he's an interesting villager. Dom is a new villager and will be traded quite often. I would recommend waiting just a bit to see if you like him because honestly, I think he has a pretty cool design. If you impulse off him, you might not have a chance to see if you would click- since I don't see him traded often. You always have a chance to get Dom if in the future you decide to get him.

This next one is a bit tricky. I love Julian from what I've seen of him. I've had Stitches in my town for quite a while. Since you have so many smug, I would suggest going with Stitches. The only downside for him and why I find this a bit hard is because while he's really cute, he may be a bit bland for some? He's sweet enough though.

yeah, i gotta say that i love smugs but they just haven't been as close to my heart as i thought they would be

I chose Goldie because she is one of my favorite dogs and normal villagers in the series.
Dom should move in because you probably need a new villager replacing Rod.
And Stitches should move in and replace Julian since you don’t click with him.

I voted for Pekoe. I really like bear cubs but I always liked her design. I also like June even a bit more. They’re both well designed normal cub and not everyone will have them.

I think 4 smugs is a lot as well. I don’t love stitches but he is a lazy, and you aren’t vibing with some of your smugs like Julian so I say go for the switch!

I also voted for you to try Dom instead of Rod. I have Dom right now and he is alright, but I don’t love him. When he moves you can take him haha. Jocks are hard for me to love though.

I also actually just swapped Julian out for Stitches on my island. I got Julian's picture but wasn't feeling him too much. Raymond has been a better smug for me!

the more i think of pekoe the more i like her... though i'll definitely have to visit some of the villagers to see who i connect with best. i'd love more feedback!

Lily if you were so inclined because I believe her to be one of the most adorable Normals but I'm not sure if you like the frog villagers.

I do agree that having 4 Smugs is a bit much and it's always better to have more variety with the personalities.
Would you be inclined to replace Julian with another personality type perhaps?
That way you could still keep Rod but also get Dom to at least see how you feel about him.
I currently have 3 lazies but I'm replacing Erik soon - though I do love him but he's one of my starters with the crappy house interior and I also have 2 crankies, which means I'm currently missing a jock.

I have a soft spot for dog villagers so I voted Goldie all the way!! Also, I get what you mean about not connecting to villagers, I do have stitches but we don't seem to get along as much as I hoped and his house really messed up my town aesthetic (it's really colorful and I don't have any other colorful houses to pair it)

I was thinking to trade him for Merengue when the time comes for him to move away (I don't tt either and I want to get his picture first), so I think I'll be holding on to him for a WHILE but i don't mind thaaaaat much.

i've never really been too taken by lily and melba's designs but i may visit them as well just in case!

and for the matter of rod and dom, i would love to... but jock dialogue is definitely my least favorite, it just feels too repetitive. it's charming when you have one of them, but beyond that i feel that i most definitely would get sick of one or the other - which may be good for figuring out which one i like more, though i have a feeling that i'll just get burned out with them. idk, i may think about it though!

Rod is cute for a mouse I guess. I'm not really a big fan of mouse villagers though so I voted to replace with Dom. I had Dom in my campsite once and thought his chara design was cool.

Voted to keep Julian because I think he's so unique as a smug! I have Stitches' amiibo and used to really love him when I was younger and playing NL, but I just can't get into his color scheme anymore now that I'm older. If anything I'm actually kind of creeped out by the fact he's a living, breathing and walking stuffed animal.

I voted to replace rod with dom, as dom is such a cute QuQ I have him in my island and I love him so much ^-^ and when he sings it makes my hart melt :'o. Also for normal villagers, All of your options seem lovely. I have Eunice as my normal type villager and she's so nice! She's a sheep villager as well though c: As for Julian and Stitches I'm not too fond of either to be honest, but i voted to keep Julian c:

yeah, i would've added poppy, but i have two squirrels and i don't want the squirrels to completely over run my island lol. i've never been too interested with june, though she is cute! i may have to visit her...

Goldie is super cute and I think she'd fit in with your other villagers well! You don't have a dog yet and you can't go wrong with Goldie!

I'd switch Rod out for Dom. Dom is really fun and I personally love him. He's really cute for a jock and it's funny when he talks about his muscles underneath all his floof.

I would probably switch Julian out for Stitches also. I think 4 smugs is a lot (and 3 is too tbh for me but it's one of my least favorite personalities). The Stitches fan art you mentioned is so cute! I really debated grabbing him for my island too.

4 smugs is... too much for my personal tastes. If it were me I would get rid of two of them. Colton is out, but you are considering getting rid of Julian, too. I'm not a fan of his so I can't really offer an objective view of him, but a lot of people are voting that you should replace him with Stitches. Does Julian share interests with your other smugs? That might also be something to consider.

Do you want Dom because he's new or because he's popular? You might get bored of him quickly if either of those are the case (as has been the case with some of the new villagers when they ended up on my island). If you genuinely like him then I say go for it (go for him either way, it's just my .02!!) Rod is definitely more unique in that he won't be seen in nearly as many islands, but that might not be important to you either.

As for a Normal, I have to say out of the options you provided, I would go for Goldie! She's cute and it sounds like you're missing a dog.
