You'll be surprised that Splatoon is only around 2GB, save datas and patches included, while Super Smash Bros. 4 takes up to 12GB. Pikmin 3 is around 5GB with everything.

Is it really? I deleted everything and I still don't have enough space for Splatoon, yet I do for Smash. Maybe something else is slaughtering my memory...?

I still say go for Smash or Splatoon with decent Internet.

I think that this was due of the data management's flawed design. At first, it seemed like that you could transfer all of these games because you've got some GBs left afterwards, so everything should transfer fine right? Well, it turns out that the system won't let you do that because it "needs some extra space" for the copy process to carry on.
Even more baffling, is that you could copy one-by-one and it'll accept these operations. Especially when you transfer the heaviest files first and the lightest ones last. Obviously, the larger the actual file(s) is/are, the more buffer on the internal memory the OS will use just to perform the task. If both the files and the buffer surpass the remaining space, then the operation is a no-go.

In this case, I think that it actually takes around 4GB to allow Splatoon to be installed, while it will latter occupy only approximately 2GB. I don't know the exact mathematics formula that calculates the Wii U's internal memory buffer accordingly to the total amount of space, but I got the basics down for you. ;)

If you still insist on getting Splatoon despite having bad a Internet Connection at your home, then you could try to buy some Splatoon amiibo, provided you can find them. Those will extend your single-player playtime by an hour or so each.

Otherwise, I would strongly recommended getting Super Smash Bros. 4. Loads and loads of replay value on solo and with friends locally.

I wonder on how bad your Internet actually is. You should take a test from SpeedTest and choose the closest server based on where you currently live. For example, mine is...

I have a very bad connection and I still can play online Nintendo games decently enough, because it's surprisingly consistent for the most part. The only problem I would have is whenever I face with anyone outside of America or someone else with a much more unstable Internet. When I try to connect with Europeans and Japaneses servers, I always have a ping of 100+m/s, which would put me at a disadvantage. For everything else than online gaming, it's a perfectly serviceable Internet, but I don't expect being able to stream myself playing a video game because of the atrocious upload speed.

Mine runs at less than 3mbps.
When we got the Internet the company told us it would run at 7. Catch was, it can. It just depends on where you live in town. So they didn't tell us that to get us to get the Internet. We had to switch from cable to DSL (I hate DSL Internet) because we only have three options for providers where I live. The one we had before had a data cap and we couldn't afford going over every single month the way we use Internet. And the other provider is cable but they charge freaking 100$ for instillation. -.-

At least it isn't my old internet... Mariokart was completely unplayable with it.

Now it's 20 I think and everything runs smoothly unless someone with my old internet plays with me, whether it be Smash or Splatoon.

All three of those games are pretty awesome to me. Those are actually the only ones I really play besides mario kart 8

Get etheir Splatoon or Smash. Both games are super fun and are still being updated to this day with DLC.

Pikmin 3 may be cheaper but it doesn't have online and it isn't being updated to this day.

My internet is about that bad on a regular basis too and I live in Ontario. I also have to agree it still works pretty good for me too despite being so freaking slow. Just never download anything huge haha. Nintendo games seem to play online fine so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

For some reason 3DS games are almost unplayable for me. I get lots of lag with ACNL and can rarely play MK7 cause it will boot me. And smash bros was completely unplayable. I don't seem to have problems with console games such as PS3 and PS4 all that bad. But I have yet to try an online WiiU game as I just got it like last week. I do have MK8. So I suppose I could test it out.

I decided on splatoon. Tried single player. Very fun. Now to try online. Thanks for all the help guys. Message me if you'd like to add me. :)
I also have Mario kart!
