But the problem is Ricano is that I only one virus program on that laptop. And I've had something like that before, and the only way I was able to get it off was with an anti-virus program.
The point for System Restore is to allow the user to restore the system's configuration to be in a previous state. In some cases the virus or spyware will be "undone" as part of the process.
