Mega I'm very sorry to hear. It was the day I saw my cat peeing herself throwing up etc. That day I can never miss and I loved that cat. Hopefully he will return back home.
I always loved the little guy since day one, I was hoping i'd get to live with him for a long 20 years (the longest they can live)
My cat had passed away at the age of four and they say cats have the maximum they can live is 16+. Also animals have very strong nose so they may be able to find there way home.
This is a lizard though... He just wanted to find somewhere dark to sleep, and they don't really run away far, they usually stay in the same area, so that's why I might be able to find him tomorow.
You could check if you have any holes in the backyard and yeah it is a lizard not like it is a dog or a cat. Also, if you can find a way to put one of the lights on or make a way to get to the sunny window, there is a chance you will find the lizard there or you can check inside because they can sneak in little holes and lead into furniture.
