I'm sorta new my self only joined in around August. Theres a lot of people here that would help you if you ever need anything. You can do trades and get items you want or you can make new friends that you can alao play with or hang out with in games.
Just piece of advice don't open your gates to people you don't know and don't leave stuff lying around in your town when some1 visits you. Unfortunately I had an incident where someone went in my town and stole things (rare items) while I was on standby mode and forgot to close my gates before closing my DS
