Held tools reset going in and out of buildings

Since I’ve loaded up my game today, any tool I’m holding as I enter a building is no longer in my hands when I exit the building.

For example, I was holding an umbrella before entering Grizzly’s house, however when I left, I wasn’t holding it anymore.

The same thing happened when I was holding the ladder and entered the museum; I wasn’t holding it when I left.

This is only something I’ve noticed today. Before today, I’d still be holding the tool I entered the building with when I left. It’s very frustrating having to constantly get the tool back out after entering buildings!

Has anyone else noticed this?

Huh, I just notice this now as you mention it. Went into the RS building with a slingshot in hand, left and it's no longer equip. Possibly a bug that was activated along with the May Day event? It would be a weird QoL update if it was intentional.

Maybe it's a bug, although today when I logged on in the morning I came out of my house holding my umbrella since it was raining yesterday.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was triggered by the May Day event too. I’ve already completed the tour if that has anything to do with it (perhaps then holding onto our inventory or something? Not sure)!

Yeah, seems to be a glitch of some sort. Although if you were still holding your umbrella, it doesn’t look like you have it! Have you completed the May Day tour yet, wondering if it’s caused by that?

I just noticed this like ten minutes ago. I've been carrying an umbrella around since it's raining, went into Able Sisters, and then I noticed I was no longer carrying my umbrella when I came out. Part of me just thought maybe I was going crazy and that maybe I'd actually put my umbrella away at some point before going inside. After reading this I checked again though, and my character definitely doesn't take her tool back out anymore once she exits a building.

I want to test this out now. I usually put my tools in before I go inside somewhere to avoid that little bit of time where my avatar puts the tool away/out when they go back outside.

I havent done the tour yet and mine still works like it used to be, so it must be a glitch.

I restarted mine and it seems to have worked for me. My character is now taking her tools out again after leaving buildings~

Wait.. restart as in start over, or just reload the game restart?

Huh... It must be a bug. Maybe since the airlines had to take the tools and such out of your inventory and put it back in once the tour was over? It's def a bug, but I haven't noticed it yet. I'll try it later.

Well, I just closed my game from the menu and then opened it again. I assumed that's what the original person meant by restart

Alright, I figured... my brain was just like "wait, restart the save file?! Isn't that a bit extreme for a small bug/issue like this?!" XD

I've been having it happen to me ever since I took the May Day tour. Exiting the game doesn't fix it. They dropped a Switch update, but I kept deferring it until after I took the May Day tour, so even after rebooting my Switch, it didn't fix...

Huh, I was doing that with my fishing rod. I didn't know why.

Restarted the game and it has fixed it. Thanks for the info!
