Held Ransom on Tortimer Island

This happened yesterday night, and I was wondering why people do this. It's quite easy to just shut down the 3DS(and lose the flowers I went to get...), but this is a rotten thing to do nonetheless. They would put on a tour so that no one could leave and ask for money... Has anyone else had this happen to them? I ended up ending the rather... Interesting... Conversation that took place, but this is considerably one of the more ridiculous things that happened to me.


The conversation was priceless though....

Girl 1: You're so mean!
Culprit: Yeah, money. Now.
Girl 2: God bless you.
Me: Wonder how it feels to get an exorcism from a 14 year old.
Culprit: Great. Give me 4M or I error.
Girl 1 & 2: NOOOOOOOO
Me: Do it.
Girl 1: I feel bad for people who run into you.
Culprit: Good. Give me your crown.
Girl 1: No!
Girl 2: Why are you so mean? ;-;

Conversation Continues for about 30 minutes

Culprit: 2M. Now.
Girl 1: But I only have 600K...
Girl 2: No money for you!

At this point, I was just swimming around for sea grapes and reading the conversation.

30 more minutes later

The conversation deteriorated into whining and making incoherent complaints.

Girl 1: You said you DIDN'T want 4M.
Culprit: What?
Girl 2: I blocked you.
Girl 1: I said I will give you money and you said no, so ha!
Culprit: I'm just gonna error.
Girl 1 & 2: NOOOO

At this point, I started losing brain cells, so I just closed the game and went back to harvesting flowers from JP islands.

Boy oh boy, this wasn't the worst though. I ran into some completely destroyed islands as well. It seems like the NA islands are worse than the JP ones by a large margin though.

Have any of you had any bad experiences like these(particularly being held ransom)?

Oh god I've been threatened so many times by those little buttheads. Sometimes, I get really bitter and lay down a ton of bells just to error when they're about to leave.

I always stick by the tour counter when I first arrive on CT. That way, if they beg me for money, I can just leave

Yesterday I was trapped but I don't think it was their intention, I forgot that whoever I was on the island with had AFK'd with their pocket open so doing the "thinking" face, which make it so you can't leave, so I set it to go to a tour and sat down and it just froze forever because it was telling them to cancel what they were doing so it could save and I could leave so I had to switch WiFi and lose all the stuff I got, which sucked because I had a few bugs that I caught for the first time and wanted to donate. =[ But I do think in the past I have been held ransom too in the past and I just told them I had no money and that I only had the 1000 to come over and that's why I was there to collect bugs. Thankfully they believed me and left to another island to do the same. I blocked them tho.
