Okay so about a week ago, when I first joined this forum, I read an interesting tidbit from someone that they were held hostage on the island by someone who was trying to shank them for bells! Ever since then I have been very very VERY cautious about doing the Club Tortimer's Island tours and warning a relative, who also plays, to be cautious as well. Well last night while on the island it happened but I was able to save myself.
A female character showed up and began chatting me up right away. I kept my answers at the minimum and tried to avoid interaction with her because this character seemed really pushy. I had already been on the island for a little while and was ready to go back. I made sure to empty my catches before hand (habit really) and when I went to talk to Laila, I was cut off by this character and she started a tour. Then she immediately went back to trying to talk to me. She said she was 12 and from Nara Japanese (yes "Japanese"). I told her I wanted to go home and that she should start her tour. She kept spinning around in circles and running all over the lobby. It went on like this for twenty minutes and then she started to ask what I had (which I ignored) and demanded that I hand whatever over. The more I asked why the more she claimed that she didn't understand English and then Japanese characters started to appear in her conversation. After all this wondering around and refusing to give up, I had an idea. I said "alright I will give you what you want but let's play this tour first", I sat down and she ran around the chairs for another five minutes. After hesitation on her part she sat down and I jumped up and the tour started. Goodbye hateful annoying little brat! I went to talk to Laila to get off the island and then the wifi was disconnected. I began to SCREAM LIKE A FREAKING SAILOR AT TWO IN THE MORNING! All that stuff that I caught was gone or at least I thought it was. When I was sent back to my town I immediately checked the bin at the dock and all my stuff was there. I thought for sure I was screwed out my bounty. Apparently I must've saved somewhere when I placed it in the bin before she arrived. So readers beware of a little girl from Nara Japanese (haha) with a short brimmed straw hat ( like the one from the Madeline books) and a school academy uniform.

Hate such people really but theres to many of likewise people around on the internetz so unfortunatly theres not really anything we can do about this :((

too much text

The idea of giving off too much text is possibly a symbol indicating that the person, or in this case, the OP, would want to receive BellTreeForums Bells, which has the ability to gain access to certain features that would otherwise be impossible to accept.

Sorry for weird post and awkward word-structures. Back to the thread.

It's nice to see that you got all your stuff back ^.^ I personally try to avoid Bug Hunting at Club Tortimer because of my crap WiFi that could waste 25 mins or so of someone's time. But if i did have good wifi, i would limit myself to go on tours or some social interaction (with good people, of course).

This is why it's a bad idea to do fishing and beetle catching on club tortimer.
I'm not even sure why people do. o n o I only club tortimer to find certain prizes I want.

So far I've met some really nice people. There needs to be a ban feature, where if a person gets a ban from 3 - 5 different people, they won't be able to attend Club Tortimer for 4 weeks or something.

Nothing that bad has happened to me -- I do go to Club T, usually to do tours and socialize (so hitting the wifi is no big deal) but also I do sometimes go there if it's daytime and I really need to scrape up some bells fast; international island will be in all time zones so you have a good chance of finding a night time island. I've never lost my stuff, just had to leave early.

Okay I'm not trying to be mean, but this comes up ALL the time and honestly IF YOU GO TO CLUB TORTIMER, you SHOULDN'T catch bugs, fish, or anything else UNLESS you are prepared to lose it. It is entirely your choice to go to the island and you have absolutely no control over what the other person may do. You need to be aware of those consequences.

too much text

Yeah, I guess reading is tough for you, Matt. Thanks for posting. =/

I've never gone to Club T. Too risky. In a room w/ strangers, there's no reason for them to cut the trip short w/out warning.

Wow, I've never hear of that happening. I will watch out for her. I go to Club T once in a while, mainly to see what prizes they have and pick up some coconuts to sell back in my town.

I'm pretty sure that whenever someone enters or leaves the island, or leaves for a tour, your game is saved. Which means, at least, that the stuff that you've already placed in the box will be there if something happens.

I had something similar happen. I think they stuck themselves in a conversation with Leilani so that I couldn't leave.

This explains why everyone I've met on Club Tortimer was so quiet. ._. Luckily I've never seen anyone like this, but really, it's a piss-poor way of making bells. You don't earn a lot of money selling items on the island, and you can't just hand over bugs or fish, either. TBH I wouldn't mind just hitting the wifi button to make these people scram. Nothing's worth that kind of headache, no matter how many bugs you have.

I just got stuck by some jerky little boy in a helmet tonight. I've never had this happen, but am not horribly surprised. Some people just go to Tortimer Island to destroy it, and apparently some just go to try to hostage you for bells. I decided to sit it out on the tour bench while he had his fun, closing my ds. I figured he couldn't do me any harm, just be annoying. When I logged back in, some other boy, dressed in the same helmet had started a Cicada minigame. I thought it was the same kid at first and was ready to bolt until I saw the name.

Yeah I've been going to club tortimer to get the Kitchen Island.. well trying to get it, I have met a few rude people but I don't stay long enough for them to trap me XD

Since you're forced to save when someone new shows up, just put what you have in the box as often as possible and disconnect if someone does that to you. Never had to deal with that kind of stuff myself, since I don't really go to the Club Tortimer island a lot, though.

Yes, but there's an ATM on the island, so you can withdraw money.
