I liked Warcraft and it's been a while since I've played any card based games. I know it has 'microtransactions' though and I'm unsure to whether or not this makes it a 'Pay to Win' game or not, as well as if the microtransactions can largely be ignored entirely.
I know it's free to play but I don't want to bother with the initial investment if I'm going to be hit with paywall barriers eventually :/

It's a card game. Of course it has a certain degree of "pay to win". The point is collecting more powerful cards. You can win games to collect gold and buy the same card packs that people pay for with money though.
Hearthstone is great! I've been playing since Day 1 in the beta and always love to go back and play. Don't play as much nowadays unfortunately.

Well, yea, pay to win is likely going to be there to some degree but I meant it more as 'do you have to' or is everything available to you whether or not you throw money at it.
