Haven't seen one of my beloved villagers for a day or two.. help?

Nate has been in my town from the start and I didn't like him before, but now he's one of my best villager friends. A total cuddle cub, if I may.
I haven't seen him outside of his house for around two days now.
I haven't seen him in any stores on main street and I haven't seen him in Re-Tail.
I saw him in his house (lights on) but he never goes out of his house.
I have 9 villagers at the moment.
My villagers are trying to drive me crazy by saying there's a new villager in town, but I've scouted the entire town map three times and I haven't found one!
I think he wants to move, but I'll decline. I'm a little worried, though.
Has anyone else had this problem?


(Marcie, one of my other best villager friends, pinged me but I said for her to stay. Maelle tried to ping me but I was listening in on a chat between Tex and Marcie, would that of made an affect on HER *maelle* trying to move, BTW?)

Have you tried looking in the museum? Often when I can't find villagers they'll be hanging out in one of the exhibits.

animals also wander around the museum exhibits so when you can't find them that's probably where they are. Although a couple days ago I literally couldn't find Marshal anywhere. Then I worked at the caf? and he showed up. haha
If Maelle was pinging you about moving chances are she'll move unless you get her to ping you again and say no.

I found him in the aquarium.. Thank you so much. I was so worried that he'd plan to move.
And i'm trying to walk in front of Maelle as much as I can, but she won't ping. Is there a time limit for them to ping?
(ex. Maelle pings at 5:30 pm, failed. The next time she will be able to ping is 6:10 pm.)

Sometimes you have to recheck the museum. When I can't find a villager that's where I look.

I dread it when my townies go to the fossil room, because I always get turned around in there.

Glad you found him! I've gone an entire week without being able to find a certain villager so I know how you feel! As for not being able to find a new villager, have you checked the villager list tab on your map? Maybe your villagers are crazy but it never hurts to check! c=

Save and quit, then reload the game and she should ping.

Do you have extra players that are friends with her? Trying a different player could help.

If she's due to ping, talk to her a few times, see if she says anything. If not, save and quit, then load again. Find her and she'll probably ping this time around. At least, in my experience, that works. She also needs to be outside, you can't get them to ping when they're shopping or in the museum or at home.
