Haven't met Tortimer

Hi,

I've been playing since the 13th, so it's been 6 days since my town was created. I've read that, in order to go to the Island, you have to meet Tortimer - I do not think I met him.

Am I doomed to being unable to travel to the Island? Should I reset? I really don't want to

You have to have paid off your 39.800 Bells loan first and talked to Tom Nook regarding an expansion.
I did that and met Tortimer on the third day.

EDIT: I had to also get my Town Development Permit from Isabelle.

Yes, Jason was right. What was missing was the expansion talk
