I know the datamines have revealed that there could be a museum shop and cafe added in updates later on, but I had too many ideas so most of my island is filled up now. It's going to be so hard to decide what to get rid of later on to make room for anything because I love everything I've already built!

i mean, my island is faaaaaar from being completed, but i think im gonna work with the buildings that we have now, and then later on if i need to do some redecorating to fit in new buildings, i will! it'll keep me invested if new buildings are released down the line.
for once, past me had enough brain cells to save a spot for roost whenever that update will be implemented.
i tend to not think this far ahead whenever i play ac bc i just go into no thoughts mode but good thing i did for this lol.

I haven't really left space but I'm keeping a list of things that I could move around in order to accomodate the new buildings when they get released!

Yep! I have a few spots saved for anything they add. I'd love to see if they bring back some old AC stuff like the comedy club or the fortune teller!
I have 2-3 sections on my island that I don't have any plans for (removed Genji from my dreamie list so that frees up the asian themed part I really only wanted for him, and the forest and ruins may take less space than I thought)

My island is 50% empty space I have no idea what to do with, so new buildings would be welcome!
I am planning on leaving some open spaces ones I terraform for possible buildings in the future, I don't want to put things everywhere and end up removing them once new buildings are added in future updates lol I don't like doing extra work!

As I like open spaces on my island (which is probably a reaction to, in real life, living on an island that is really more of an urban concrete jungle than a holiday paradise), I definitely have room for a cafe and a dream suite. I hope we get these by the end of the year.
Even if I don't have the space now, I can create it later because the degree to which we can customize our island in ACNH is simply amazing. I remember what it used to be like playing Wild World and New Leaf.

I have designed a lot of my island, but I have one large area currently just filled with flowers and other small empty spaces. i also have some places where I could remove decorations to make room, but I shouldn't have to terraform to have space I think. I actually left the large area because I am waiting for a building to place there!
When I learned that the game was "incomplete", I already planned to design my island with future updates in mind. So I have huge spaces scattered around my island. I just turned it into flower gardens for now. I also put off terraforming a large part of my island just for that.
once I actually get to work on making my island, I'm planning on making a fairly big windflower field area that I can just turn into a cafe/whatever else area whence it comes out
but it'll probably take me a few centuries to find the motivation and inspiration to start on my island so the new buildings will probably already be out before I've even begun lol

I took so long to remodel my island precisely because I was waiting for them to add the new buildings, but finally I decided to kind of put everything in order and leave some spaces for the buildings in case they add them. Otherwise I'll just do some plaza/outdoor café/whatever, although I'm now thinking about creating another character to have more storage and rooms to decorate, so I'll also need space for a new home.
I have several empty areas in my island that I don't like seeing empty, but I don't know what to put there anyway. I'm pretty sure the moment I'll start filling up those areas is when they'll release the shops and whatever they have in store lol.
