Hello fellow AC enthusiasts~!

I’m curious about how many of you have gone and created new users in order to have multiple characters to play,
similar to what a lot of us did in New Leaf!
I’m dying to have a secondary character for myself
(and a second house to decorate!)but don’t know if it’s worth the trouble...
ANY insight is super appreciated

How many of you already have secondary characters??

I have! I made a secondary character in my island, mainly to have a girl to go with my main guy. I like to use different hairstyles/clothes on her, and also I ended up needing the extra storage once I upgraded her house, haha.

I usually don't create secondary characters since I find that I have enough to do on my main. However, if you really like decorating houses then I would say go for it! You can always delete the character if you change your mind or get bored!

I play with two characters!

It's kinda easy to grind stuff like Easter eggs with two accounts. Granted, Easter is over now lol.

I think one thing I found annoying was trying to share resources (clay, stones, wood) between the two. I've recently decided that both accounts should just have their own stash inside their storage. Having a DIY bench inside their houses makes it handy...

Cute! I think I’m just going to dive in and do the same
I didn’t even think about the extra storage... that’s definitely handy!

ohhh smart! Do you also unlock new/different DIY’s with the second account? I have diy benches everywhere lol so I’d probably do the same with resources

In New Leaf I had 2 separate towns and 7 characters between them that only I played on lol, the secondary characters are more to add a bustling/livelier feeling to my towns. I like to turn their houses into places we otherwise wouldn’t have available to us, like corner stores, witches huts, universities, etc...
But now that crafting and gathering resources is a thing I could def see it being more overwhelming to go that route

In a sense, yes.

For example you can find a DIY message bottle on your beach with one account. Log into the other account, you can find another DIY message bottle, and it'll have a different recipe.

Though, with a second account, you're not gonna get a whole bunch of DIY recipes from when you had to furnish those three houses.

I hope that makes sense? :?

I think I'm going to have to have a second character eventually. They give us a lot of storage space in this game, but is it ever enough for me? The answer is no. I have to hoard everything. (especially with a lot of clothes having like 6 color variants)

I have two alts right now, will create a third one later. My alts are Charlotte and Kaylee. Holly is the main character. I use all three characters daily.

I have an alt right now, planning to make 2 more eventually (reviving all my acnl characters).

You just make another account on your switch, however you won't be able to go online (i.e. visit other ppl, invite ppl over) unless you link it to another Nintendo account and pay for a second online membership, just FYI.

Even in acnl i never played on my side characters, just used them as... characters.. fitting a theme for my dream town. So I always got furniture and stuff on my main character and just dropped it for the side characters So getting things like DIYs, sharing resources, etc. Don't really matter to me. But yea, if your first character has whacked all the rocks and trees, the second character wont be able to.

I created a secondary account to make an in-game house for my best friend c: I haven't seen her in a month because of quarantine and she doesn't play, so it's just a small way to feel closer to her.

I wanted to make at least 2 more characters. But I realized I've already run out of room.. so I can't :( unless I move everything around

That's a good point to note! My second character currently doesn't have a Nintendo account so I'm unable to let her visit other player islands, or initiate downloading custom designs. (But she can still use the designs once they are downloaded) Any off-island business is handled by my Resident Rep.

Made another character for Iwata it's also great for getting recipes each player gets a message in the bottle washed up on the beach when you start up the game on their account

I'll probably create a second player for storage and to even out the villager list on my map, it bothers me a bit. Another house would also probably be a nice filler space if I ever needed it.

I have a second player whose house im using to create a cafe/restaurant, I did the same in NL and it was a super fun thing to do on the side! Having outdoor furniture in NH now allows for an outdoor seating area which is a cool possibility

Yes! I wanted to have a boba shop and ramen shop on my island so i made two OC's! They are twin brothers and their names are Soba and Boba (lol so original) but hey! it works out cuz my main girl's name is Rice!
can you tell i love food?

Yes I have created all 8 characters. I think it’s pretty ridiculous they don’t let us use internet services on our alternate characters though. We pay for a membership, it should apply to everything on our switch.

I honestly really want to, but I haven't yet! In New Leaf I had a character for my OC's and I would love to make them in this game. It was super fun to decorate their houses differently, especially because they all have such different styles. I'm not sure if it can have a negative effect in this game though, so I'm a little nervous.
