So it's a simple enough question! The main thing is want to know is why or why not. I have a best friend who, when she gets bored after around a week, she resets her town. This makes absolutely no sense to me! Why would somebody delete their town? If you really want to play the game, in my opinion, you should dedicate yourself to it! (I'm so sorry if it seems like I am judging people who do this, I am just clueless as to why.) Please, if you have, enlighten me! I'll be ever so grateful.

I've never reset Cascades and I don't plan to, I've Reset Redbow about four times for a better map, and my other game since I bough it off ebay (but not before looting it :p)
Sometimes it's hard to devote your self to a town if the layout is bad, it just festers and gets harder to accept as time progresses.

New Leaf is what each player makes of it. There is no winner or loser. Collect everything or nothing as YOU wish. Keep it or wipe it. Bottom line: enjoy it the way YOU desire. To answer the question: Many, many, many times. EDIT: I guess I should add that my first town, Weeds, has not been reset and never will be reset even though it's a jumble of mistakes and newbie botches and has no theme or scheme. Our first village is like that for most of us, ain't it?

No, because I'm not going through all that again.

It costs a fortune on a mobile for data, and I'm not going to go through visiting 100 towns to get the train station upgrade, or wait 6 months for Gracie's shop, and all the other things I've unlocked or accomplished.

I reset my first town and re-created it when I came back to New Leaf in 2015.
I haven?t reset that town since - I have at least bronze in everything! As Hooda said, sometimes it is a trip inside Memory Lane to see your town full of mistakes - disliking the mayors name, not liking the town fruit...

I actually like most aspects of my oldest town, but it feels very personal.
Every time I load the town I think of all the things I?d do differently. :)

I've never reset a town because I'm not that picky about maps and I believe an ACNL town is perpetually malleable.I can change it whenever I want to.

Lol! Thats relatable! I don't get it either! xD
I've never nor will reset my town ever
It's the first town I've had since I got New Leaf, and I've been working very hard on it, to get a perfect town, to get certain PWP, to get all the shops, to get many badges, and to Upgrade my House. I also have many of my favorite villagers in my town, including my Fav villager in the whole entire series, Dotty. So I refuse to delete my town! xD

One time my friend accidentally deleted her town, which doesn't make any sense to me xD

i've never reset mistvale and i don't think i'll ever- it's my first town ever, and i have a soft spot for it and am always working on improving it. i absolutely agree with you- i don't see the point in constantly resetting all the time. where's the charm in building up a town out of adversity?

i do have a 2nd cartridge that i reset bc it was originally a cycling town for selling villagers- it now is my permanent town mitaka.

i'm also working on a third town called yawn! i don't think i'll delete any of these three towns :)

I think resetting after a week is too soon and probably a good sign that the game isn't really for someone. I wouldn't reset my main town, but if I had some whatever town, I'd probably be more willing to reset that one.

Yes, of course haha but only if the town has been there for days or a week. If I've already been playing for months/years, I'd just make another town.

I delted my town a couple of times after a while and ended up not happy with it, now I couldn't bare the thought of deleting my town!

I deleted my town once, just last year. I had been playing New Leaf since it came out. The first year I played every single day, the second year I played about 5 days a week, and I just kept slowly playing less and less. I started to feel bored but I loved AC so much. I finally, after much deliberation, decided to reset my town and start again. It definitely reinvigorated my playing. Sometimes I kind of regret restarting, I feel like I betrayed my villagers haha. But I love the villagers I have now and have had a lot of fun experiences I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Have I ever reset my town? No. It takes a lot of effort and I have so much done. Plus, if I really want to change things up I can just knock down all of the trees, tear up the landscaping, and/or kick out all of the villagers to start fresh. Have I ever reset to piss off Resetti? Yes (I thought this was the intent of the question before clicking). Why? Well, he's not as fun as he used to be, but a mad Resetti makes a happy mayor.

I have reset.

Two years ago the entire summer was about resetting my second cartridge.
It was a deep desire from within - I had to!

And you know what? I looked at all the things that would cause me to reset:

- maps I didn?t enjoy working with
- learning to plot reset
- planning what the playable characters look like and where they should live
- town name
- map styles - rivers, town hall, re-tail pond, etc.

Only then I found what made me happy.

Bless those former towns deleted into digital rubble.
It?s been a year since I?ve reset. And the towns I have - all but one I will keep forever :)
I enjoy each town more and more each day :)

So to anyone reading this - resetting is great IF you learn from each town!!

A lot. Which is pretty embarrassing. I'll make good progress then reset after a few months, since a fresh new town gets me back into the game. I'm really, really indecisive and get bored of things easily so I always need something new to do. I'm finally going to try to resist resetting my newest town no matter what. I'm jealous of anyone who's been able to keep their town since day one.. :( I dunno what's wrong with me, but I've never been able to play this game normally lol

I deleted my original New Leaf town because it was absolutely full of villagers I didn't particularly like and I was too impatient to get rid of them all and because I didn't like the town's name very much. It worked out for the most part, as I managed to get villagers I wanted by restarting and it led me to appreciating the game more. I now have four different towns, each with differtrent themes. Something in the back of my mind sometimes wants to reset again because of grievances (my main town's map sucks and my mayor's house in that town is blocking the waterfall, my magic show/circus town's mayor's house is too close to the Town Hall and I don't know if my planned Illuminated Heart Public Works Project will fit) but at this point I figure I'll leave making a standout town to the Switch game and accept things as they are. Plus I don't want to collect all of the furniture, clothes, and villagers all overt again.

As was stated earlier in the thread, the game is what an individual makes of it and there is no right or wrong way to play if it gives the individual enjoyment. Some people enjoy resetting. Thast's fine.

I actually did reset Diamond once because I didn't like the original name I gave it anymore. No other times besides that though.

I have reset a few times, the latest time was in August, after I started playing NL again and didn't recognize any villagers that I had. I would NEVER reset again.

I’ve just reset in the very beginning, Bon Bay almost got created December 31st as Sea Side and the first Mandala existed for all of fifteen minutes. Once I get invested in it then I’m trapped forever.

I have never reset my main copy of the game and I don't plan to. I've come way too far to reset even if I dislike the map at times.

I've reset my second copy many times though, I'm in the process of trying to dedicate myself to a town and it's really hard to once you've fallen into the resetting habit.
