I don't know how well known this is, but I noticed it about a year ago and since keep thinking, 'Why?'.

Has anyone else noticed that you'll never see an animal use the cliff path to/from the beach? They can't be pushed on it, and you'll never see them walk on it themselves. I realised this when I boxed in an animal next to the cliff path with shovel holes, wanting them to be on the beach. Only when I ran off and couldn't see them would they suddenly be on the beach. Like they transport only when they're off screen.

The animals have the animation for running up and down, as you'll see when they're in your house with a second story or basement. Why would Nintendo not use that for the cliff paths? It really bugs me that we can't see them transition to the beach naturally. It's possible this has changed since the update. I haven't yet checked.

lol thats kinda minor but i noticed that too and its bugged me. i wish they added more cute small features in the update like sitting on rocks. villagers being more in touch with the town would be nice (using public works projects, seeing them go to mainstreet, going to the beach, B U Y I N G T H I N G S). it would bring so much more life to the game! they did a good job with villagers asking to visit and seeing them in re-tail. even smaller things like this would be nice

I never noticed this! I don't think I've ever tried pushing a villager onto the slope but that's strange that they can't walk on it. I do agree with what was said though, having villagers interact with the town more and actually seeing them do it would be nice.

I'd love it if villagers had specific schedules where they'd do something at particular times depending on the day/weather instead of just being in or out of their homes, like going to the beach or shops, and you could actually see them walking there (akin to Majora's Mask or Stardew Valley, I suppose). The only hurdle I can see with this would be coding some sort of pathfinding in the villagers that would work with every possible town layout... Seems like a mammoth of a task, but either way, the villagers need some sort of pathfinding because right now they don't seem to have any, so they just walk and bump into things and it's kind of dumb.

Ah, yeah, it's really weird that you can't see them going up or down the ramp. But I did notice something even weirder regarding that, and I might be the only one to have discovered this... So I was near my beach ramp, but the ramp wasn't on the screen. And I heard this slide whistle sound effect, like something slid down a slide. My first thought was "What the heck was that?" So I went over to my ramp and saw a villager standing at the foot of the ramp. I was just like "Okay... did I just hear him slide down this thing?" So I guess it's possible to hear them go down the ramp, just not see them?

Oh, wow! Now that you mention it, I have, just a handful of times, heard odd quick noises but always assumed I was imagining it or it was coming from something else, like the TV.

That would indeed be awesome. Even if every animal was assigned just one "favourite item" that they buy at the store if you don't get there in time, even that would make things feel a bit more dynamic.

I'd LOVE if animals had relationship levels with each other, not just the player. And if two animals have a high friendship, you see them walking around together, sitting on the benches together, visiting the museum together etc. They could even implement that so you can get a GROUP of animals friends doing things together. I've always felt that places like the museum always look far too empty. You're lucking to see 1 animal in any given section, but that still feels empty. I mean, it's a museum!

I have actually never noticed this! I haven't ever tried to push them onto a path so that's quite interesting! I wonder why that is.

Soooo then how do they get to the beach? Warping confirmed.
