Have you ever kept merch of something that you're not a fan of anymore?

Like a TV series, games series, or series of books that you were a fan of, but still keep remains of merch of it.

I'm not a fan of Curious George, but l still have a stuffed animal of him sitting in the dust. I really don't like Legend of Zelda BOTW, but l still use this BOTW Link blanket everytime. And l have a few frozen things like dolls even though l don't really like the movies. I even have more merch of things l don't like anymore xD

The good thing about merch that satisfies your needs (Like Blankets, Pillows, Candles) is that they are still useful to use even if you aren't a big fan of it.

I have a Pikachu stuff animal and even though I'm not as big of a fan of pokemon, I still love sleeping with it,

True true and it could also be something for memories! Sad my pikachu doesn't get care at all xD

Yes- I've gotten merch for certain shows that I'm not interested in any more as gifts. It would be virtually worthless to sell (mostly buttons and pins) but throwing it out just seems wrong. I feel too obligated to the gifters to throw them out- even if it just sits in my desk drawer collecting dust LOL

Well I kinda still like the characters and stuff but not into it as much; Hyperdimension Neptunia. Kept a couple of figures/statues of Noire/Black Heart. They're kinda expensive stuff and cba selling really.

I have a single issue of Shonen Jump from 2009, a couple Dragon Ball magazines and activity books, and a Yu-Gi-Oh fan zine even though I really have zero interest in any of those things. Just things that I accumulated from family members' belongings getting jumbled in with my own, I suppose. Though I have no idea where the Shonen Jump thing came from, since no one I know used to read that.

I don’t think about Club Penguin too much these days since it’s been years since it (and its successor, Club Penguin Island) has shut down, but my room is filled with Club Penguin merchandise. Cushions, figures, Card-Jitsu cards, and plushies. Lots and lots of plushies. I even have the golden viking helmet penguin plushie.

SO much. As a child and early teen I would go down the rabbit hole of anything I found interesting. There was no such thing as being a casual fan/viewer for me.

When I was 13 there were two: Fall Out Boy and Dan and Phil. Holy crap, I knew everything under the sun about them all.

I owned a llama hat, pillow case, and t shirt, none of which I would be caught dead with now. I find my old fascination with them very cringeworthy now. However, I still prefer British and European YouTubers over American ones (I am American).

As for Fall Out Boy, I own at least 7 shirts from Hot Topic and I still use one oversized one as a nightshirt. I don’t wear any of them in public anymore, though. I also have a handful of Panic! at the Disco shirts and I don’t wear those either. My Apple account has almost every song from Fall Out Boy’s main albums and a quite few Panic! songs. I listen to the old Fall Out Boy sometimes but anything of theirs after 2015 doesn’t exist in my mind.

Right now I do not own merch for anything that I like. I can’t say that I have a favorite YouTuber anymore. It just depends on how I feel. If I had to pick a top three, they would be Roly, WadZee, and Jammidodger. Two British and one Australian lol.

As for music, I’m a big fan of Hozier now. I am considering buying a CD (yes, I am 17 and I like CDs. My mom got me interested in them. I listen to the same bunch of songs anyway so it works.) Generally I just find songs from social media or other people and add them this jumbled playlist I have.

That time of my life was a TRIP.

I used to be a fan of Angry Birds years ago, but it pretty much dwindled as time went on. I have a Stella and Lucca (or however you spell his name) plushie that's displayed in the basement gathering dust.

It's kinda crazy of how that game was soooo popular and then out of no where it died. I can guess why no one really cares about the movies. I still thought it was a weird idea for making a movie of that game.🤔

I guess this counts as 'merch' but I remember as a kid we would use these huge beach towels with a brand of cigarettes on them. I had no idea how we got these or that it was for cigarettes but we used them all the time and even brought them to school for our picnic days. I guess at the end of the day they were still good towels so it didn't matter what brand they were.

Yeah, it doesn't really help on my end where I was just cringy back then and talked about that game nonstop. Not gonna lie, I want to forget the series for good as it just brings back memories that I wish had stayed forgotten.

I'm actually kind of going through this right now. 5 years ago a friend of mine introduced me to Tales of Symphonia. I fell in love with the game, started collecting bits and pieces of merch, and now we no longer talk so holding onto this stuff only invokes painful memories for me. Do I still like the game? Yeah... I can't bring myself to not like it, it is genuinely a great experience. But now it's unfortunately tied to someone I will likely never speak to again, so I can't see myself ever re-visiting it in the future. I've been trying to sell my stuff lately, hopefully it goes soon and I no longer have to look at it.

It's so easy to buy merch when you're riding the high after finishing a show or game. Feels great at the time, but it can be difficult to deal with some years down the line if your tastes change or if you relate it to a certain period in your life, a bit like music I guess.

Not a fan of football (never was too big a fan to begin with lol) but of course I'm still keeping my jersey. I just never wear them anymore.
