Has there been a big shift of players who have put down ACNL for ACPC or is there still a big community who play ACNL? Going off the boards I still see trades happening and I'm not sure if it's just me or whether the amount has dropped since Pocket Camps release.
I'm super into ACPC but it misses the magic and the ability to play for hours at a time that ACNL has.
Don't get me wrong though, Pocket Camp is perfect for those with busy lives where you can pick it up and put it down at any given moment and that is one reason why I do like it.

I guess I was also disappointed with no E3 announcements - even a major update would have been enough to get me back into playing ACNL

ACPC honestly hasn’t affected me whatsoever, I just want a good core game!

I don't play Pocket Camp at all. It's just not a game that interests me.

I'll make my rounds in ACPC and then go back to ACNL. I can't stick to just one though.

It's nice to see that there are still people loyal to ACNL. ACPC has a convenience aspect to it, but I'm scared that more focus is being put into that by developers, rather than any further AC console games.

Nintendo has a tendency to be pretty conservative with large or even any degree of changes to their series. I think they made ACPC to serve the era of smartphones and for those who are 'on-the-go' or just don't want to/can't invest in a 3DS/2DS. (It's also super convenient since you'll likely have your phone on you vs. lugging around a 3DS, etc.)

If anything, if Nintendo ever does revamp ACNL, it'll probably be pretty awesome since they've got a decent track record of perfecting their games.

But yeah, I don't see anyone solely committing to ACPC other than obsessing over it for a little while.

I got sick of ACNL about a year ago, I put over 1600 hours into the game and you can only do so much lol. I pretty much solely play ACPC now while I await a new game

I never played pocket camp, it's just not my type. I have never been a fan of Nintendo games on phone.

Pok?mon go was really good tho :p

Yes you make some very valid points there. I completely understand why they created ACPC, it was a very clever move and serves a huge market. I harbour no ill-will towards the game, I think it's great, although I do understand the counter arguments. I keep getting away with myself that ACNL has been laid to rest.

I think this was maybe why I put the game down 3 years ago. I sunk every hour of the two years prior since the release into the game and found myself (figuratively.. or maybe literally in the game) running in circles. I'm desperate to fall back in love with the game but I need something new for it to be worth sinking time into the game again.

It was a great game.. in fact I had never played Pokemon before the Pokemon GO hype so it did well to cater to and draw in a new demographic of players. My partner recently re-downloaded it last week and was surprised to see so many playing it still.

while i do have periods of play-intensely-then-avoid-the-game-for-months with acnl, i still prefer it over acpc- acpc is cute, but i think it lacks a lot of the personal, homey aspect which gave all the ac main games so much love. it's missing the feel-good vibes, but since i still like decorating, i still play it.
i think more people play acpc then acnl right now, as its free to play (if you have a phone, which most people do these days), and its a lot of people's first ac game, but i think those who also play/have played the main games will say that they beat acpc for sure

I agree wholly with you here. Yes! That's the 'magic' I was talking about - the homey, personal bit.
ACPC is definitely a good pick up and go game but it does lack a lot. I usually go for HHD when I feel like being creative but unlike the phone version it isn't free to play.

I've played so much of ACNL that ACPC provides a nice break in the monotony. I usually do my rounds in PC first and that makes me want to play NL to have more Animal Crossing. As long as PC remains interesting and fun, it helps me wait for the next console game, which is hopefully soon. PC in no way replaces a main series game but it does give me a way to play on the go. A mobile game for the series also keeps my hopes up that a new game is coming soon.

I think it's just because New Leaf is over 5 years old at this point. People want a new core game.

Pocket Camp is not a core game and is missing a lot of features that a main game would have. Also, the micro-transactions and items that are only available for limited periods of time can be a turn-off. I know some people here are playing it, but not everyone is. I'm not.

yesss I see your point, I wish PC would give me the kick to want to restart ACNL but I just know that it'll be the same thing that it's been for the past 5 years bar the major update stuff.
I too have my hopes up for a new game in the near future *fingers crossed*

It gives me hope that there are still people who are invested in the core games. The micro transactions were definitely a turn off for me. I'm still hopeful for some update with the console side of the franchise

Since I'm not a fan of mobile games and my phone isn't in general that good for such games, I never
played Pocket Camp and never will. Besides that, I'm not so interested in this game at all, even if I
have to admit, that some of the items that are available in Pocket Camp looking pretty good and I
hope they will be in the next main AC game.

So yeah, I only New Leaf (but I do a break from the game right now) and waiting for a new AC game
at the same time.

I played Pocket Camp when it first came out and I played it frequently for a little bit... and then I just dropped it completely, never to pick it up again. As others have said, it lacks what makes ACNL so special--the personal bonds you forge with your villagers while cultivating an intimate, beautiful town are irreplaceable for me. In ACNL I can spend hours just walking around my town making adjustments or simply looking at all I have done so far, whereas with PC I just picked it up to do the same things over and over, so it got boring.

I sadly got rather bored of Pocket Camp very quickly. I do see a good bit of people playing it, but I don't think people playing it would be dropping New Leaf entirely for it. Like others have said, seems more convenient for the go, but doesn't beat the feeling of NL and previous games c:

I've actually been playing ACPC more frequently because of the events and the new animals. I like that there's new content frequently, which means they're dedicated to the series :) BUT WHERE'S THE NEW ANIMAL CROSSING! I took a break from new leaf after the devastation and I'm finally getting back into semi-regular gameplay. Also, I've also noticed the forums do seem a bit different. I took a hiatus from the forum and there's less activity.
