I've seen a few users mention their bugged villagers had vanished when a new day started, but that doesn't really tell us the glitch was fixed. So.. has it?

I saw some people say that the existing glitched houses disappear the following day.

Not sure about move ins, though.

My glitched plot is still in my game... I'm tempted to TT 1 day just this once (I personally don't want to TT) to see if it turns to an empty plot like it has for some others, but I then don't want an empty plot with no Chief to move into if there's still a glitch for adopted villagers.....

The forum is going to be chock-full of posts freaking out about this tomorrow morning. Brace yourselves.

A couple of things are going on.
1) People's bugged villager plots have been wiped to fresh plots post-update.
2) People's unbugged, amiibo-invited villagers are getting wiped to fresh plots post-update. Check out this conversation I had on Twitter as one example.
3) People's bugged villager plots are still ingame post-update.

I've talked to quite a few people now that fall under all of these categories.

Sounds like a fix was attempted, but bombed, to me. It will be interesting to see what datamining uncovers about what criteria Nintendo used to determine a plot to wipe.

They really can't figure this one out, can they?

EDIT: FWIW, I have an amiibo-invited villager on my island that successfully moved in today. Not looking forward to seeing whether or not he disappears tomorrow. I may be one of the freaking out people.

Hmm. That's concerning, but I don't see how that conversation you linked is an example of an "unbugged, amiibo-invited" villager. If they're asking for help restoring them, does that not imply they don't have the amiibo cards they'd need to simply invite them back? Seems more likely they adopted their dreamies from someone and they're now gone.

Do you guys suppose this could be caused because these villagers had already triggered whatever was causing the moved-out glitch, but hadn't actually gotten bugged yet, making them ticking time bombs in effect?

The person invited three villagers that were invited via amiibo from friends' towns to empty plots in their village. The "I've moved out" glitch was never present, and the villagers were interacting normally, but their plots were still deleted. Sorry if my wording was unclear. The person's profile has images of this situation and more context if that helps.

Villagers with this bug are bugged from the get-go. They will purchase the plot, and then build the glitched house, with no time in between, as far as I'm aware.

I strongly feel that whatever mechanism Nintendo is using to identify glitched plots has something in common with unglitched villagers that were invited by amiibo and traded/adopted, but we'll see for certain once more reports come in.

I'm currently in the process in helping another user test out whether villagers can still glitch out, and the person I'm helping as so far had success with no issue and according to Animal Crossing World, the glitch has been fixed.

Positivity!

That is only for amiibo villager’s correct? I want to move out 2 of the new NH villagers but i’m scared of doing so. I do not want to give anyone glitches when trading villagers.

I’m almost tempted to have someone visit my island to see if my Raymond will glitch out but I’m scared. I moved him in before the update via an amiibo eviction. He asked to move in multiple times, didn’t think about it. He’s been fine though. Once I found out about the glitch I’ve had my island on lockdown..

Possibly, but I'm fairly sure I've read a handful of reports involving a villager who was previously working fine, then suddenly disappeared and had a move-out sign on their house. The glitch was a lot harder to understand than the first one, it seemed like.

I’m happy to report that my successful amiibo trade move-in is still here this morning!

I think you are right- this is my first time hearing about this, but if this were the case, it would perfectly explain the ongoing situation as people don’t know their plots were bugged for this reason. Between everyone I’ve talked to, villagers moved in fine BUT they asked to move in twice.
