I decided to use up all of my NMT to island hop and get some cool villagers. I kicked out Merengue and felt kind of guilty about it, and found her THREE times on the islands and then, to make it worse, found a message in a bottle from her on the third island.
Now I wanted to time travel to kick a new villager out but my nooks has books and magazines today ahhhhh
Has the game's RNG taunted you like this or am I just unlucky.

and then found her on her 2nd switch in 2 islands.

I've gotten a bottled letter from Pietro two times so far.
He's my only dreamie and I've spent 50 NMT so far looking for him.

I'm aware of the campsite method but I don't want to kick out Leobold.​

I’m almost convinced this game has a desire sensor and never gives us what we want when we want it. Whether it be villagers, diys, or furniture, I always get those what I want when I’m not wanting them as much or when I wasn’t expecting them at all. When I look for them, the game wouldn’t give me even crumbs.

I've gotten bottles from Gabi, Poppy, and Caroline, all of which would probably be permanent residents and I like them better than any villager I've encountered in NH so far.

I've moved out Gala, met her on an island on my 2nd NMT and the next day got a Message in a bottle from her calling me a "Faraway friend".

She really misses my island, huh. :'/

Wow that is insane haha! I remember when i got a DIY bottle from Raymond who was on my list of wanted villagers. It felt like the game telling me this is the closest i will ever get to him XD It was not even a DIY i wanted, it was the steel frame wallpaper.

I was looking for Judy and ended up finding my favorite bear cub Vladimir but I couldn't take him cause I already had two crankies ;^;

As like with any gacha game desire sensor and rng is the biggest pain you can have when island hopping. Not sure if it's as bad but I spent 145 nmt looking for a villager and never found them.

After 223 mystery islands, I've run into literally every past villager I've ever had. Granted, I've only kicked out 12 villagers, but I've run into every single one of them, multiple times. I can seem to NEVER find the villager I'm looking for, it's either one I've already had, or it's a repeat of someone I don't want :/

what's gacha game desire sensor?

Gacha games are known for notorious low rates at getting a particular unit so in AC's case, a particular villager. Desire sensor is when it's like the game knows who you're trying to get and just won't give them to you.

Yes and no for me. I've gone searching for some villagers about 4 times now. The first time I went searching for Sherb, and in my mind on my 2nd try im like, not gonna get him, and I get him. Another two island hunting times I was really hopeful to get one of the villagers I like but I did not. On my last most recent try, I had 100 tickets, was really looking forward to enjoying some hunting, not expecting to get one of my favs in the first few tries, and on the 5th try, I get the one villager I had to have no matter what (Willow). I guess in a way, when I don't expect to get what I want for villagers I do, and when I expect to find someone I want I don't get them.

In addition, I have been looking for butch a bit, with no luck, but I have gotten 2 messages in a bottle from him.
