Has anyone started to tan yet in the game?

I've already bought an array of hats and umbrellas to last me through the next couple months in game. Really not excited for tanning season - it would make so much more sense if everyone could just pick their skin colour instead of desperately trying to tan/avoid the sun.

I'm going to be wearing a hat when it gets too sunny in my town, because I am like toilet paper roll pale in real life, and I based my character off of me

No not every hat will prevent a tan. Only certain ones, so make sure you check a guide. I tanned once on the Island and I thought my character looked weird. Mayor had pink hair back then, I don't think it would look bad now my mayor has brown hair. I don't mind it, I think it's a nice touch and it's like real life.

Ohhhh okay! Thanks so much! How long does it usually last for? This is my first time playing NL through the summer/ tanning season

everyday that you tan, it will go up one shade on the next day

everyday you DONT tan/ wear a wide hat or mask, ur tan will go down one shade the next day

(my favorite shades are 4 and 5, so I will tan when my shade is 4 and not tan when its 5 so it switches between the two)

Nope, I've been prepared since May just for the tanning season. I have the cute little petal parasol for my mayor and a black bat umbrella for my second character. I do not want to tan since it would look super weird with both characters' white hair. Plus, I don't think I play long enough or early enough anymore to even get a tan. I did have my character tan all of last summer though and she looked super cute when she had brown hair but not anymore unfortunately.

While I'm not tanning in game, I am tanning in real life so I'm like 2 shades darker than normal right now >-<. I don't think a simple hat/umbrella would suffice though lol

I haven't tanned in-game since Summer 2013, as my Mayor wears hats 24/7. I really like how she looks with a tan though. I wonder if she'll get one this year, as she wears the backwards blue cap now, and it's not in the above list of tan-proof hats!

After seeing what tanned characters looked like, I made a vow to keep my characters as pale as possible.

waiting for the day i'm no longer albino... i don't wear a hat or mask yet i am still the same shade i started with lol i would love to be like a nice olive tan colored.
