I'm contemplating it, I have 2 switches currently and I have so many ideas that aren't suited for my current island and want to meet some new villagers! I feel like at this point in the game, things are slowly becoming more routine and chill. I'm still not 100% sure when I will start my second town though, as i want to keep my current town my upmost priority.

I only have one switch so no, but if I am ever able to make a second island I would totally do like a murder mystery island. idk how, but I'd want that one to be themed because my main island is just an island

Almost. I started my island on my regular switch, but then managed to get an AC version too. I synced my user data on the new one, and downloaded ACNH but then I decided not to play it.

This was for two main reasons. Valenwood will always be my "main island" and I'm hoping down the line that Nintendo will allow save transfers so I can move Valenwood to my new AC switch... It sounds daft but it's just how I would prefer it.

Also, as I am not TT'ing in Valenwood, I have so much left to discover and I kinda want to keep that as pure as possible. I feel if I add a second town at this point, it will dilute my experience and I'd rather give 100% to one town until I am further along.

I had 10 NL carts at one point, so it's pretty certain I will have another town at some point... just for me, now isn't the right time.

I do wish you all the luck with two islands, and hope it works out really well for you :)

completely understand where you're coming from! I also don't TT on my first town so would never want to go further and want to experience everything first there. so it's definitely one of the things that is making me want to wait it out first!

that's a fabulous idea! I really hope the dream suit is added in an update, would love to visit towns like this :D

I would if we could have multiple islands for the same switch. I would love to make a special themed town that’s separate from my normal one, but I’m not paying $300 just for an extra copy of a single game.

I have a Switch lite and made a second town but as soon as I had I regretted it. This was about 6 days after release and I suddenly realised that neither town was going to make me happy then (sounds so extreme, but there were already things bothering me about my original town and having a second ruined the magic too) so I deleted both (tough decision) and started from scratch and I’m really glad I did because I think that the whole experience helped me work out what I wanted, but also, I’m in no rush to start a second town now, maybe down the line, but for now enjoying what I have. (As someone who has had several NL towns on the go.)

My son has a switch, but he mostly does PC gaming, so I've considered having a game on it. Not anytime soon, though. I do not have time for a second island. I got a 2nd New Leaf game a couple of years after my first town was pretty much done. I'll probably have a similar timeline. I definitely want to get through one year before considering it.

I have 2 islands. The plan was to start the 2nd island after 2 months playing on my 1st island.
About 2 weeks in I started my 2nd island to get the rest of the fruit. Got pears and reset. Start the island again and got cherries.
I love Island 2 map so I decided to kept it. I play it when I have time and plan on using the island for online visitors.

Nice thing about having extra town is the bonus DIY recipes, 2 stores to shop in and sharing Nook Miles recipes. Main Island bought Nook Mile Recipes and built an extra for Island 2.

I used part of Island 2 river layout for Island 1.
Both islands are played in real time.

I have contemplated it too since I've got 2 Switches as well...

My only concern is that I feel that after I got my 2nd town in NL, I stopped enjoying the game as much. It became more of a chore for me because having a full-time job, I just couldn't really keep up with running two towns simultaneously. So I started using my secondary town mainly as a cycling one but I got burned our rather fast, too.

So, I'm not sure. I'm nowhere near done with my island as I don't TT or anything (another mistake that kind of ruined NL for me).

The only reason I'd be tempted to get a second one would be to have more villagers. It's really hard for me to only choose 10 to keep as permanent residents. I'd also love to have a normal island and a horror-themed island (being a horror-fanatic and all) but, right now, I don't even think we really have enough suitable in-game stuff for that.
