Announced awhile back for Japan as Connect to the New World well now Natsume have announced the new Harvest Moon game is coming this year!

Coming to the USA, right? I hope it'll come to Europe as well. I've never played a Harvest Moon game before, but I'd love to try it. I thought of getting A New Beginning, but then I saw there was a new one in Japan, so I figured I might as well wait for that one to arrive in Europe (assuming if it comes to Europe, that is).
 
I'm so excited, I already know who I'm marrying for both genders. >3<
 
What 3DS Harvest Moon title should I get (besides this one) as someone who is new to the series and wants as much as he can get in 1 game?

Definitely a new beginning.
Tale of two towns is great, but I like a new beginning more.

Definitely A New Beginning. Real step up in graphics but more importantly the gameplay feels better plus you can customize the town and farm like crazy which is new to the franchise. Word of warning though first month is always the slowest start plus it has a terribly annoying tutorial like the Mario and Luigi games.

XSEED is handling the translations this time, I wonder what caused Natsume to not handle that. According to IGN it's going to simply be known as Story of Seasons.
 
Ah this is exciting! I would also looooove a new wiiu Harvest Moon game. I think a console version is long overdue <3
Who are the bachelor/ettes?

Is it okay to play as a first time player or is it best to play some of the earlier versions?

It's typically okay to play them as a first time player. A New Beginning was kinda aimed at that audience, but as someone who's played it, I really don't recommend on jumping into that. I don't know if the new game will hold your hand as much as they did in New Beginning, but they certainly can't make it any worse.
