I have a hard time letting the newly added villagers go: as in Audie, Raymond, Dom etc. I currently have 5 newly added villagers on my island, but I’m not sure about Audie anymore.

I want to let her go but I hate the thought of how rare she is. The other villagers have amiibos so I can let them go easily, because I know that I can 100 get them again. So frustrating!

i've had each new villager at least once

i didn't hesitate to get rid of dom, he was my starter on my first island and i forced him out as soon as i had access to amiibos

i could never get rid of raymond and judy since i love them so much, they'll be on my island forever ♡

i did have reneigh but stopped liking her after a while and only kept her because she's new and i couldn't get her back but after i reset i didn't get her again

with audie and sherb i seem to keep getting them, i feel like i'm pretty much forcing myself to like them just so i can have them but i just have to accept i don't
i've got rid of audie again and i might give sherb away again soon

with cyd he was pretty groovy but was also my friend's dreamie so i just let her have him
i don't even remember what happened to megan tbh

I love Dom. He was my starter on my island and I don't want to let him go even though I already have my jock dreamie, Stinky. He's just so damn cute and looks hilarious in the flame tee and triangle shades I gave him.

i feel you - the risk of regretting letting them go with how hard they’d be to obtain again is always a roadblock. however, i wouldn’t force yourself to keep her if you don’t like her - rare or not, there’s no shame in letting her go for a villager that you’d like more ;;

That's why I have compromised to not let any villager I don't have an amiibo card leave without their villager picture. By the time that I get it, I am normally tired of seeing them even though I still like them. So then I don't feel guilty about letting them go.

I have Audie and Sherb and feel the same way. I may want to move on from one or both eventually, but I know I don't want to spend 100 NMT or whatever the going rate is for them if I decide I want them back later.

Surely Nintendo will be releasing new amiibos at some point?

Enjoy them, get their picture, and then when they ask to leave, let them go free (or better yet, find them a loving home with someone new!) and then get someone new for yourself that you'd rather have!

I'd try not to worry about their rarity too much. If you don't enjoy having them on your island anymore, it doesn't matter how rare they are.

I agree with daffy, “Rarity” or Popularity is over rated in my humble opinion, the point of the villagers is to make you happy, to be something like your Island family, if they don’t make you happy anymore, let them go, and you can also get some NMTs if you trade.

Throughout my town I’ve had all of them except Dom and Megan. Cyd and Raymond I wasn’t a fan of so I got rid of them both pretty easily, Reneigh I liked but wanted Deirdre as an uchi, Audie I liked but she has the fitness hobby and ALWAYS worked out and I really wasn’t vibing with it so I gave her away to someone who wanted her way more. I still have Sherb cause I love him so much and I also still have Judy cause I also quite like her

Try not to go by rarity, or these annoying tier lists.

Go with your heart, and keep who you really like.
Not who you think others would be envious of.

You'll be much happier in the long run. :)

I complete understand! I get oddly attached to my starting villagers :(

Don't keep her just because she's rare. That's why I feel like the tier lists take away a bit of the fun of the game and it makes me sad, just forget the hype. Keep the ones you know deep down you would, if there were no such lists!

Same here! I have Raymond (he was my forced campsite villager), but I'm not sure if I really connect to him. I'm not really keeping him because of his tier, but more so because I know if I let him go, I'll probably never be able to get him back. I'm afraid I'll regret letting him go in the end.

I get it, I came across Judy and Raymond while island hopping and couldn't leave them behind just because they are new and rare. Once I've had my chance to interact with them for a good while and obtained their photos as a memento I think I will be able to let them go, hopefully lol.

That's how I felt too, but I ultimately let her go because she just wasn't clicking with me. I was so excited about finding her on one of my first mystery islands too because I knew she'd be harder to come by since she was new. I ended up replacing her with Murphy and I'm a lot happier, lol. (Audie went to a sweet player on here and that made me happy too.)
