just a thought...

what happens if you say ' no way! ' to him asking you to find his parts?

Ugh I have Gulliver today as well. I really want an item, but I have absolutely no fun digging up the clams. I'd rather just answer a question about a location like the good old days. *sigh*

Yeah I agree. That was way more fun and unique. They made him into a boring fetch quest. I don't look forward to him at all. Have to press A a million times to finally wake him up, then go through 20 pages of dialogue to get to the boring and tedious fetch quest only to have to go through another 10 pages of dialogue. I was really disappointed they took away the fun and silly questions he asks.. those made him a really fun visitor.

Gulliver is the most important visiting NPC for me because I need to log those thirty completions to get the Golden Shovel DIY. So, he can mock the size of my noggin all he wants... for now

Just wanted to add- you can totally not help him if you don't want to (though he will eventually give you the Golden Shovel DIY) but, if you decide not to help him, it may still be worth talking to him because, if you collect the parts but don't turn them in, they turn into Rusted Parts the next day, which can craft that... big robot DIY thing, that IIRC, is worth a pretty penny!

I believe it's actually more than 30 completions 😅
I looked it up to double check and this link here says it's 30 times. But IDK if it's "help 30 times and get the DIY the 30th" or "help 30 times and then the next time you help get the DIY"

Oh that's much better than the 100 I read that it was 🙈 phew!

I swear I've helped him more than 30 times and I've not got the diy yet. Sad times.

Also I did not like the way guliver used to work.
I dont know geography stuff very well so I have to Google the answer every single time. It was lame.
It was no different to working out if art is fake or not for me.

I mostly avoid Gulliver these days now that I have the golden shovel DIY and have collected the items that I want from him. Overall I find that his overly long dialogue and digging up all the parts, plus ending up prolonging it by digging up clams by accident too, can become pretty tedious. If I haven’t spoken to him for a long time then I sometimes do it but for the most part I ignore him, honestly I preferred the questions in the old game but I’ve always loved things like quizzes, especially on geography, so his old travel questions were fun to me.

Also agree that Gullivarrr is superior, usually it takes me nowhere near as long to dive for his communicator, helped by the fact it’s only one thing to collect, and his rewards have been much more useful to me for island decorating. I don’t always help him either though when I see him but I’d be more likely to find his communicator then help Gulliver with his parts.
