Guides for laying down paths?

I would like to lay down paths in my town and make it really pretty with lots of trees and flowers and stuff. Do you have any advice?. I am thinking about skipping time forward a bit to get the QR code machine.

I always make kind of a main road, which leads from every house, to every important building and to the beaches. Then after that, I'll make some other paths around town, with lots of trees, park areas and other things
