Ok so I was looking through the ACCF calender and I got to Febuary 2nd Groundhog day?
What on earth is groundhog day?

On groundhog day, a groundhog determines if spring or winter will happen.
Simply by seeing if it sees it's shadow or not.
It's a countrywide tradition.

I know hes a mole but I dont think theres a groundhog, I think they use resetti to improvise, isnt that what they did in the gamecube version?

i don't think so, I remember another special holiday groundhog character.

We still observe it up through this past year to determine winter/spring. Maybe you dont, but its still widely observed last I checked.
