Gracie Grace disappears after reset?

I know I'm probably missing something obvious here, but I can't seem to find my answer online.

I had Gracie Grace in my town this afternoon for the fourth time - so, the last fashion check I needed to unlock the store.

I saved right before the check in case I failed. I passed, but reset a bit later by accident. I ran up to my town plaza to re-do the check to find Gracie gone. I don't believe it autosaved or anything because I don't have the item she gave me in my inventory.

Am I screwed? Does she disappear after a reset as a failsafe against trying to get re-dos at the fashion check? I want to cry - it's been weeks since she's last showed up and I was so excited to finally be done with her.

Ugh, that happened to me before in my old town. However, not knowing what to do, I just continued on with my game :'D

You have to talk to the police man to hear about the tall stylish giraffe in the plaza; then you'll find her.

Well, she just randomly appeared again! Thank you so much to everyone who replied. I was resolved to just continue on with my day, and went to the Nook Store and Re-Tail. Upon returning back to my town center, there she was again. I don't know if simply entering a building was what brought her back or what.

Good to know since my newest town while be going thru their checks soon. Not in a hurry since I have 3 towns with the upgraded store.
