if i have 2 players on the same switch, am I able to collect 40 stars, or will it still only be 20?
Each player can collect 20.
Through their person? Or if they play at the same time will they be able to get the 40?
20 will wash up per player playing. Once it washes up and is not collected though, another resident player can get it just like the message in a bottle. I am not sure about same time, I suppose it depends on the leader.

It is difficult to find good info out there for multiple players(families) playing on one island. You find pieces here and there.
