Gord Downie was a Canadian musician, member of the group Tragically Hip. He received the Order of Canada just this past June for his contributions both to the music world and to Canada's social and political environment; he produced an album raising awareness of the horrors of Canadian residential schools. He died of brain cancer. He was a great person and musician, RIP
