good fireworks design?

What makes a good fireworks design?
The one I gave was just one I had on hand, it was a dark red on black, and it really doesn't show well, so I'm wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for what makes a good design for this?

Bright colours like pink and light blue work well, as they show up more against the dark sky. And the design shouldn't be too detailed since the firework breaks it up.
